Reasons why green vehicles need separate inspection stickers.
According to new regulations from the Ministry of Transport, from 2025, one type of automobile will have its own vehicle inspection sticker color (green) to identify it as an environmentally friendly and clean vehicle.

The Ministry of Transport has just issued Circular 53/2024/TT-BGTVT regulating the classification of road transport vehicles and the identification signs of motor vehicles using clean energy, green energy, and environmentally friendly energy. The Circular will take effect from January 1, 2025.
This circular stipulates the following identifying characteristics for motor vehicles using clean, green, and environmentally friendly energy:
Motor vehicles using clean energy, green energy, or environmentally friendly energy are identified according to regulations. Motor vehicles using clean energy, green energy, or environmentally friendly energy when participating in traffic are identified by an inspection sticker with a green background.
Explaining the necessity of labeling vehicles as "green," Mr. Nguyen To An, Deputy Director of the Vehicle Registration Department, said that according to the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety No. 36/2024/QH15 (effective from January 1, 2025), the Ministry of Transport is responsible for issuing circulars regulating the classification of road transport vehicles and specifying the identifying marks for motor vehicles using clean energy, green energy, and environmentally friendly energy.
Before the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety was enacted and came into effect, detailed regulations on the classification of road motor vehicles in particular and road transport vehicles in general were stipulated in many different sub-legal documents, leading to inconsistent and even conflicting content, causing difficulties in application to state management in many fields.
The Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety stipulates that the Minister of Transport shall provide detailed regulations on the classification of road transport vehicles; and regulations on identifying signs for motor vehicles using clean energy, green energy, and environmentally friendly energy, ensuring consistency in the classification of road transport vehicles.
