'Foster mother' temporarily detained for throwing boiling water on 12-year-old girl for losing lottery ticket
Authorities have just prosecuted and temporarily detained a woman who beat and even poured boiling water on a 12-year-old girl just because she lost her lottery ticket.
The Investigation Police Agency of Ha Tien City Police (Kien Giang Province) has prosecuted and temporarily detained Nguyen Thi Phuong (52 years old, residing in Phu Quoc City) to investigate the case.crime of torturing others.

According to the police, Ms. Phuong lives as husband and wife with Mr. Tuan (52 years old, living in Phu Quoc City). The two children PDGH (12 years old) and NGB (7 years old) are Mr. Tuan's grandchildren.
Early last November, Ms. Phuong and Mr. Tuan broke up. After that, this woman took the 2 children to Binh San ward (Ha Tien city) to live and sell lottery tickets to make a living. Every month, Mr. Tuan still sends money to support the 2 children. The children call Ms. Phuong "foster mother".

Working with the authorities, Ms. Phuong stated that because H. often lost lottery tickets while selling them, she beat him. On November 21, the "foster mother" cruelly poured boiling water on H.'s shoulder and right hand, causing severe burns.
Upon receiving the news, Binh San Ward Police quickly began investigating and took the two children to the Kien Giang Province Social Protection Center for care.
