According to RIA Novosti, US President-elect Donald Trump said he has no intention of refusing to support Ukraine. He will use support for Ukraine as a lever to put pressure on Russia.
“I want to make a deal and the only way to do that is not to withdraw support,” Mr. Trump said in an interview with Time magazine, responding to questions about his stance on continued involvement in the conflict in Ukraine.
Besides, Mr. Donald Trump opposed US missile attacks on Russian territory.
“I think the most dangerous thing right now is what’s happening: President Zelensky has decided, with the approval of President Joe Biden, to start firing missiles at Russia. I think this is a serious escalation and a stupid decision,” the US president-elect said.
Mr. Trump stressed that he absolutely disagrees with strikes hundreds of kilometers deep into Russian territory, because by doing so, countries are aggravating the situation.
Comparing the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East, Mr. Trump said that the second conflict is easier to resolve than the first.
Also according to RIA Novosti on December 13, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced a $500 million aid package for Kiev, including artillery shells and equipment to protect against biological, chemical and nuclear threats.
