The man hunted down the victim to 'avenge' his child.
While the father went inside to get a knife, intending to "talk" to his fellow villagers, the two sons tried to run after him to stop him but failed.
The Hanoi People's Procuracy has just completed the indictment prosecuting defendant Ngo Van Hieu (born in 1977, residing in Chuong My district) for the crime of murder.
Previously, on April 14, 2022, Ngo Thanh Tung (born in 2002) borrowed his younger brother Ngo Tuan Anh's (born in 2004) account to message and play games with Dang Thanh Trung (born in 1994, residing in Thuy Huong commune, Chuong My district). Meanwhile, Trung used Tao Duc Thinh's (born in 2006, residing in the same village) account to play games.
During their texting and gaming sessions, a conflict arose between Tung and Trung, leading to an argument. Tung didn't realize the person he was playing with was Trung; he thought it was Nguyen Cong Minh (Tào Đức Thịnh's uncle). Therefore, at around 9:30 PM that same day, Tung and his younger brother, Ngo Tuan Anh, went to the kiosk where Minh's family lived at Cau Market (Chuong My District) to verbally abuse Minh.
Upon arriving, Tuan Anh threw a brick into the house, hitting Minh in the leg. Due to the pain and anger over being provoked by Tung and Tuan Anh, Minh grabbed an iron pipe and went to the door.

At this point, Tuan Anh and Tung were standing in front of Minh's house, continuing to throw bricks, hitting the homeowner's left hand. Angered, Minh used an iron bar to strike Tung's left hand, causing it to bleed. Because Minh retaliated, Tung and Tuan Anh ran back home.
Seeing his son bleeding from his hand, the suspect Ngo Van Hieu asked what had happened. After hearing the story, Hieu became angry, went into the house, grabbed a large knife, and then rode his motorbike to Minh's house to find him. Seeing their father carrying a knife, Tuan Anh and his brother ran after him to try and stop him.
Upon arriving in front of Minh's house, the suspect stopped the car, cursed, and stormed inside. Minh was at the door at the time, and seeing Hieu approaching with a knife, he ran inside. Chasing Minh to the doorstep, Hieu approached and stabbed him once in the chest. The victim tried to dodge, so the knife struck his right arm instead.
At that point, the suspect stabbed the victim again in the neck, causing Minh to bleed. Minh ran out of the house, but Hieu chased after him.
After being restrained by others, Hieu stopped chasing and attacking Minh and left with his two children. The victim was then taken to the hospital by his family. Forensic examination showed that Minh suffered 5% injuries.
After committing the crime, Hieu fled his residence. On December 14, 2023, Hieu was charged and detained by the investigating agency for murder.
In July 2022, the family of the accused Hieu compensated Mr. Minh with 40 million VND. Mr. Minh accepted the money and did not request further compensation; at the same time, he submitted a request to drop criminal charges against Hieu.
It is known that in 2008, Hieu was sentenced to 24 months in prison by the People's Court of Chuong My District for disturbing public order. In 2015, the defendant was sentenced to 26 months in prison by the People's Court of Ha Dong District for illegally possessing narcotics.
