Arsenal are set to sign talented youngster Alberto Moleiro from Las Palmas in the hope of strengthening their left-wing attack.

Alberto Moleiro confirms future Barcelona dream

Arsenal, who were in a close race with Man City last season, are struggling in the race for the 2024/25 Premier League title. They are currently 6 points behind Liverpool and are even under pressure from Chelsea. Faced with this situation, coach Mikel Arteta decided to take drastic action to upgrade the squad, focusing on the left wing position - the Gunners' biggest weakness since the beginning of the season.

Despite building a formidable squad, Arteta felt that the contributions from current options such as Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard and Raheem Sterling were not enough. The three players only had a combined total of 6 goals and 4 assists in the Premier League. Therefore, Arsenal decided to focus on Alberto Moleiro - a young talent who is shining for Las Palmas in La Liga.

Alberto Moleiro, 21, is a Spain U21 player and has been with Las Palmas his entire career. This season, he has scored four goals in 15 La Liga appearances, attracting attention from big clubs across Europe. With his small stature but excellent technique and ability to finish from the edge of the box, Moleiro is highly regarded not only as a winger but also as a creative No.10.

As well as his goalscoring ability, Moleiro is also a standout when it comes to linking play and creating chances in the final third. Last season, he scored three goals and provided three assists in 28 La Liga appearances – an impressive return for a young player playing in a highly competitive environment.

According to Spanish sources, Arsenal have agreed to pay £50 million to activate Moleiro's contract release clause. This is a large investment but completely worthy of the player's talent and development potential. Mundo Deportivo said that an official announcement from Arsenal could be made in the next few months, closing an important deal in the January 2025 transfer window.

The signing of Alberto Moleiro is not only to strengthen the left wing but also to bring tactical depth to Arteta’s squad. If the youngster integrates well, Arsenal can fully expect a new period of sublimation, starting with a breakthrough in attack. This is an affirmation that the Gunners have not given up on their ambition to compete for the title this season.
