Singapore coach: 'We still have a chance'
Although the Singapore team suffered a 0-2 defeat to the Vietnam team in the first leg of the ASEAN Cup 2024 semi-final, coach Tsutomu Ogura said they still have a chance.
The Vietnamese team won 2-0 in the first leg of the 2024 ASEAN Cup semi-final against Singapore.
After the match, Singapore coach Tsutomu Ogura shared: In the final minutes of extra time, we conceded 2 goals. It turns out that football is not a game that is limited to 90 minutes. Vietnam and Singapore both had their chances, but Vietnam was the team that took advantage and punished Singapore.

That was the difference between the two teams. This match was also full of drama, I felt like watching a movie. From VAR, the disallowed goal and the penalty. The match lasted too long, almost 15 minutes of extra time, making the Singapore players tired and lose focus. My players also lacked the experience to prevent the second goal."

Losing at home by 2 goals, the Japanese coach still showed determination and steadfastness: "I told my players after the first half that if we can keep the score 0-0 until the end of the second half, we will be confident before the second leg of the semi-finals.
Unfortunately, we couldn't do it. The most important thing now is for the players to focus on recovering in time for the second leg. The semi-finals are still going on, it's not over yet. We still have a chance to reach the final."
The second leg match between Vietnam and Singapore will take place at Viet Tri Stadium on December 29.
