According to RIA Novosti, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in an interview with the T-Online portal that he will have another conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“I will do it. You cannot be naive or delusional. Some people run around Germany and think that one or two conversations are enough,” said Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

In addition, the German Chancellor added that he had two conversations with US President-elect Donald Trump. According to him, they agreed to coordinate their views on the conflict in Ukraine.

The first conversation between German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Russian President Vladimir Putin after Moscow launched a special military operation took place on November 15 at Berlin's initiative. Issues such as the conflict in Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East and bilateral relations were discussed by the two leaders. Commenting on the phone call, President Putin said that the participants had discussed it, but each maintained his own point of view.

Meanwhile, Chancellor Scholz said that the conversation had left him “disappointed”, because the Russian leader “only reiterated his position”. However, according to the German Chancellor, the phone call was necessary because it clearly showed that Germany would continue to support Ukraine.

Amid speculation within Germany's opposition Christian Democratic Union party that Chancellor Scholz might undertake a "peace mission" to Moscow, Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said that the issue of organizing such a visit was not raised during the conversation between the two leaders.
