Nghe An organizes many impressive and meaningful cultural activities to welcome the new year 2025
On the evening of December 31, at Ho Chi Minh Square (Vinh city), the Art Gala Program "Nghe An in the heart of the Fatherland" and the Countdown Program "Song Lam Spirit" to welcome the new year 2025 will take place.
On this occasion, Nghe An Newspaper had an interview with Ms. Quach Thi Cuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Sports.
PV:Madam, it is known that Nghe An first organized an art program combined with a countdown to welcome the New Year on the last day of 2017 and since then the province has organized 5 countdown programs. Could you tell us about the meaning of the countdown activity in general?
Ms. Quach Thi Cuong:Countdown is a word originating from the West, often used to refer to events, programs, and festivals that count down to the moment of transition between the old year and the new year. It is not clear when countdown was introduced to Vietnam, but this event has been widely known since 2008 in an event organized by a famous global enterprise. Since then, countdown has taken place annually in many localities across the country.
Countdown is not just about counting down time, but a spiritual experience, connecting the community and creating meaningful moments. From grand gala programs to brilliant fireworks, each countdown is an opportunity for people to look back on the old year, welcome new things with the opportunities and challenges of the new year.
PV:After 5 times of organizing the New Year countdown program, this activity has become a cultural event of special significance, opening the cultural activities of the Gregorian calendar year. Could you please tell us more about this?
Ms. Quach Thi Cuong:The New Year countdown programs organized by the Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with businesses in recent years are practical activities.promote the image of Nghe An culture and people, stimulate tourism and spread positive messages, bringing joy, happiness and peace to everyone in the new Spring.
With funding mainly from socialization, this is an opportunity for artists, cultural managers, and businesses to cooperate and create high-quality programs to serve the community. The programs are invested carefully and professionally from sound and lighting equipment, to content and implementation plans, bringing artistic performances bearing the cultural imprint of Nghe An combined with a modern style, creating conditions for people to enjoy unique cultural and artistic programs, meeting the needs of entertainment, caring for the cultural and spiritual life of the people.
Not only is it an opportunity for people from all walks of life to interact and enjoy art, the countdown programs also demonstrate the spirit of solidarity, optimism and development aspirations of the Party Committee, government and people of Nghe An province. With the participation of the community, from local people to tourists, this is also an opportunity for Nghe An to promote its image to domestic and foreign friends, contributing to promoting the province's tourism industry.

PV:So what is special about the upcoming 2025 New Year's Eve program, madam?
Ms. Quach Thi Cuong:2024 is the year when many cultural and artistic events are organized on a grand scale, serving well the political events of the province and the country such as the Mobile Propaganda Contest to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the opening of the Ho Chi Minh Trail - the traditional day of the Truong Son Army; Sen Village Festival in 2024, the live television program "Sen Village nurtures great ambitions", commemorating the 134th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2024); commemorating the 94th anniversary of the Nghe Tinh Soviet (September 12); the program "Vi, Giam - Shining Soul of the Countryside" to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Nghe Tinh Vi, Giam folk songs being recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity; the exhibition "Colors of Heritage, Nature and Traditional Vietnamese Craft Products"... Along with that, many artists were awarded the titles of Meritorious Artist, People's Artist; The culture of the Western region of Nghe An has many improvements... That shows that the spiritual and cultural life of Nghe An people is increasingly improving, the aspiration to build the homeland is growing stronger.

2025 is a year with many important events for the country and the province: Celebrating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025); Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); Celebrating the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025) associated with the National Lotus Village Festival; Celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025); 995 years of the name Nghe An; 95th anniversary of Nghe Tinh Soviet (September 12, 1930 - September 12, 2025)... This is also the year to hold Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term, towards the 14th National Party Congress in the era of national growth.
In that context, the Countdown - Welcome New Year 2025 program is held with special significance, not only as an occasion to honor the culture and history of Nghe An but also to create a cultural, spiritual, and solidarity bridge in the community to work together towards carrying out the common political tasks of the province and the country.
As planned, the Countdown - New Year 2025 program will take place from 8:35 p.m. on December 31, 2024 to 0:00 a.m. on January 1, 2025 at Ho Chi Minh Square (Vinh City). An indispensable part of the program is the New Year art performance "Hao khi Song Lam", with the participation of dance troupes, dance groups and famous stars of Nghe An entertainment industry, bringing modern music performances combined with spectacular artistic light shows, creating a vibrant, youthful and energetic atmosphere.
The new and special feature of the Countdown program welcoming the New Year 2025 is the Art Gala "Nghe An in the Heart of the Fatherland" and the launching of the Campaign to create and promote literary and artistic works on the theme "A Common Vietnamese Legacy".
PV:Could you please tell us more about the activities mentioned above?
Ms. Quach Thi Cuong:The art gala "Nghe An in the heart of the Fatherland" and the launch of the Campaign to create and promote literary and artistic works on the theme "A common Vietnamese foundation" are activities to implement Plan No. 230-KH/TU dated March 18, 2024 of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee; Official Dispatch No. 2160/UBND-VX dated March 21, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee on organizing activities to summarize 50 years of Vietnamese literature and art after the country's reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
The art gala “Nghe An in the heart of the Fatherland” is held to celebrate, honor and promote the unique cultural values of Nghe An. Through the special art performances, the audience will experience and understand more deeply the traditional cultural values, from the folk songs of Vi and Giam to the heroic historical stories of Nghe An, sending a message of love for the homeland, gratitude to previous generations, and the aspiration to build a bright future. In addition, the program is also an opportunity to affirm that Nghe An is not only a part of the country but also a symbol of patriotism, the will to rise up and the spirit of national solidarity.
The Art Gala program “Nghe An in the heart of the Fatherland” consists of 3 parts: Part 1 “Returning to the mountains and rivers” brings singing and dancing performances imbued with the breath of Nghe Tinh folk songs and folk songs – a folk performing art recognized by UNESCO as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
Part 2 "Songs that go with the years" are songs about Nghe An homeland during the resistance wars of the nation in the 20th century such as "Tieng ho tren dat Nghe An", "Co quan quan Lang Do", "Hello, Lam Hong girl"...
Part 3 of “Nghe An Song of a New Day” with songs such as “Rhythm of Dawn”, “Nghe An in My Heart”, “Nghe An Going Out to Sea”…, paints a picture of Nghe An in innovation, integration and development with the aspiration to build a rich and beautiful homeland of each citizen.
The campaign to create and promote literary and artistic works on the theme “A Common Vietnamese Origin” was launched to widely propagate the potential, strengths, patriotic traditions, the spirit of great solidarity, love for the homeland, history, culture and people of Nghe An to all regions of the country; affirm and honor the great achievements that the Party Committee, government and people of Nghe An province have united and strived to achieve in the cause of construction and development.
The campaign also aims to promote the talents and enthusiasm of artists inside and outside the province to create works of high ideological and artistic value, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people, building the culture and comprehensive development of Nghe An people.
With the theme of praising the land and people of Nghe An; praising the historical and cultural traditions, advanced models, working life, studying, living, and contemporary issues of Nghe An province in the process of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland, the Campaign to create and promote literary and artistic works on the theme "A common Vietnamese foundation" will have the participation of professional and non-professional authors inside and outside the province, with the following genres: Literature (Novels, short stories, memoirs, essays, poems, etc.); stage scripts; songs; photography.

Also part of the activities to welcome the new year 2025, at VinWonder Cua Hoi tourist area (Nghi Hoa ward, Vinh city), there will be 3 nights of high-altitude fireworks, each night for 5 minutes at 9:00 p.m. on December 28, 29 and 0:00 on January 1, 2025. At the same time, at this location, there will be music shows throughout the nights of December 28, 29 and the Countdown concert "Ringing the new year" from 10:00 p.m. on December 31 to 0:00 on January 1, 2025.
