On the afternoon of January 3, in Vinh city, the People's Council of Nghe An province, term XVIII, term 2021 - 2026, held the 26th session (Special session).

At the meeting, the People's Council of Nghe An province conducted the procedures for dismissal and election of the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, term XVIII, 2021 - 2026.
The Provincial People's Council also reviewed, discussed and approved the reports and draft resolutions submitted to the session, including: Resolution on the policy of converting forest use to other purposes to implement investment projects in Nghe An province; Resolution on giving opinions on the Urban Development Program of Nghe An province to 2030, with a vision to 2050.
In his opening speech, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Council Hoang Nghia Hieu emphasized: The contents considered and decided by the Provincial People's Council at this session are all important and urgent. The preparation work for the session has been seriously carried out by the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, the Provincial People's Council Committees and relevant departments and branches, ensuring the order and procedures according to regulations.
At this session, it is recommended that the provincial People's Council delegates promote democracy, uphold the sense of responsibility, consider and discuss carefully, so that the decision on personnel work and specialized resolutions are strictly ensured, in accordance with the Party's policies and orientations, in accordance with legal regulations, and achieve high consensus and unity.
At the meeting, the People's Council of Nghe An province conducted the procedure to dismiss the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, term XVIII, term 2021 - 2026 for comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.
The Provincial People's Council also elected comrade Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to hold the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province, term XVIII, 2021 - 2026.
The 18th Nghe An Provincial People's Council passed resolutions confirming the results of the dismissal and election of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
Comrade Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee delivered a speech accepting the assignment before the Provincial People's Council, emphasizing that together with the Provincial People's Committee, he will unite, innovate, be creative, determined, and resolute in the direction and administration work, in order to create a new driving force to promote the province's socio-economic development faster and more sustainably.

At the meeting, the Provincial People's Council passed two draft resolutions, including: Draft Resolution on changing the purpose of forest use to other purposes to implement projects in the province; Draft Resolution on giving opinions on approving the Urban Development Program of Nghe An province to 2030, with a vision to 2050.
Closing the session, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Hoang Nghia Hieu emphasized that the Provincial People's Council requested the new Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee to inherit and promote the achievements gained in the past time, continue to innovate in the leadership, direction and operation of the Provincial People's Committee to successfully implement the goals and targets of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of the province.
Along with that, pay attention to directing the implementation of the 4-party coordination regulations: National Assembly Delegation - Provincial People's Council Standing Committee - Provincial People's Committee - Provincial Fatherland Front Committee. At the same time, promptly submit to the Provincial People's Council Standing Committee a list of proposals to draft a Resolution to submit to the Provincial People's Council Sessions in 2025.
The Provincial People's Council requested the Provincial People's Committee to actively direct the implementation of procedures for the above investment projects to complete and put the projects into operation soon, promote their effectiveness, and meet the aspirations of voters and people.
At the same time, the Provincial People's Committee is requested to review and complete the Urban Development Program of Nghe An province to 2030, with a vision to 2050, for approval according to authority, ensuring compliance with legal regulations.
Affirming that 2025 is a year of special significance, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Hoang Nghia Hieu said that this is a year of acceleration and breakthrough to complete the goals and targets of socio-economic development for the 5 years 2021 - 2025, creating a premise for the implementation of the socio-economic development plan in the following period. The Government and the Prime Minister have directed the drastic implementation of tasks from the beginning of the year "striving for double-digit economic growth in 2025".
