Pedestrians who cross the street illegally will be fined.
This regulation aims to ensure traffic safety, reduce the risk of accidents and raise pedestrians' awareness of traffic laws.
Decree 168/2024/ND-CP officially took effect from January 1, 2025, regulating administrative sanctions for violations of traffic order and safety in the field of road traffic; deduction of points and restoration of points on driving licenses.

According to Article 10 of this Decree, pedestrians will be fined if they violate the following traffic rules:
1. A fine of 100,000 VND to 200,000 VND shall be imposed on pedestrians committing one of the following violations:
a) Not driving on the correct part of the road; crossing the median strip; crossing the road at an incorrect place; crossing the road without using hand signals as prescribed;
b) Failure to comply with the commands or instructions of traffic lights, signs, or road markings, except for the violations specified in Clause 2 of this Article;
c) Failure to comply with the orders or instructions of traffic controllers or traffic inspectors;
d) Carrying or lifting bulky objects that obstruct traffic;
d) Hanging or clinging to moving vehicles.
