The General Department of Customs reported that Vietnam's cumulative exports in the first two months of the current coffee crop year (October 2024 to September 2025) were 983,000 bags, down 36.61%, year-on-year.

The reported year-on-year decline in exports could be due to delays in harvesting, due to prolonged wet weather in the first two months of the season, while some other sources suspect that it is more likely due to a significant drop in production.

Although coffee prices have increased sharply, the coffee market is still affected by objective factors such as weather, epidemics and international trade policies.

These factors may make speculators cautious and reluctant to "spend money" to buy goods for storage due to concerns about the possibility of future price fluctuations.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market also fluctuate:

Robusta Coffee (London):

March 2025 delivery: Up 35 USD/ton, to 5,019 USD/ton.

Delivery in May 2025: Up 28 USD/ton, to 4,928 USD/ton.

Mr. Do Ha Nam, Vice President of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa), said that the sharp increase in coffee export turnover was due to an unprecedented price fever in the first half of 2024.

In the 2023-2024 coffee crop year, due to forecasts of reduced output in many major producing countries, the market witnessed a continuous increase in export prices.

For the first time, the price of Robusta coffee on the London exchange is above 5,000 USD/ton, the price of Robusta coffee is higher than Arabica coffee while before it was always lower.

Domestically, coffee prices have also continuously peaked, reaching the highest level in the past 30 years and higher than export prices.

In the 2023-2024 crop year, the average export price of coffee will reach an average of 3,673 USD/ton, nearly 50% higher than in the 2022/2023 crop year. With this increase, coffee is currently the agricultural product with the strongest price increase among Vietnam's key agricultural export products.
