Chelsea leads the race for Mainoo, MU risks losing 'gem'
Chelsea are emerging as the frontrunners to sign Kobbie Mainoo if the 19-year-old midfielder decides to leave Manchester United.

This information was exclusively revealed by Daily Mail, in the context that MU is facing a deadlock in renewing the contract with Mainoo's representative.
Failure to reach an agreement could force United to sell Mainoo in the January transfer window or at the end of the season. The United gem is attracting interest from several top European clubs, but Chelsea are believed to be leading the race. However, the Blues will certainly face stiff competition from both domestic and international rivals.
MU still hopes to reach an agreement to extend the contract with Mainoo, who is under contract until June 2027. However, Mainoo's salary demand of £200,000/week is causing difficulties for the "Red Devils", as the team is having to cut the wage bill to comply with regulations on profit and sustainability (PSR).
United have put high-paid players such as Casemiro, Marcus Rashford and Antony on the list of players who could be sold in January. The budget crunch has made it difficult for United to meet the demands of Mainoo, who knows he can get better treatment at other clubs. Mainoo is also said to be concerned about the direction and chances of playing in the Champions League with United currently 13th in the Premier League.
In addition, MU is also considering selling Alejandro Garnacho, who has had difficulty adapting to the new tactical scheme. Only two players are currently considered untouchable at Old Trafford, namely Leny Yoro and Amad Diallo.
