Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool are battling it out to sign winger Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao.

Premier League giants urged to activate €60m Nico Williams clause

With a contract release fee of 58 million euros, the Spanish star is one of the hottest targets on the transfer market.

Williams’s brilliant performance at EURO 2024 has helped him make a name for himself. Not only did he open the scoring in the final, but he also constantly troubled the England defense, contributing greatly to Spain’s championship victory. Williams is now considered one of the most talented wingers in the world.

The interest from big Premier League clubs is no coincidence. Arsenal, having lost Bukayo Saka to injury, are looking for an urgent solution to their attack. Although The Times reports that they want Williams, the transfer fee remains a major obstacle for the Gunners. Chelsea, with its strong financial potential, are also ready to "clear space" to recruit Williams for the 2024/25 season. Meanwhile, Liverpool may see Williams as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, who is open to a contract extension.

All three clubs see Williams as a combination of talent and development potential, a quality addition to their squads amid various issues with their current targets, and Barcelona's financial woes have further fuelled the interest from English clubs.
