Thus, after three consecutive days of decline, coffee prices in the domestic market are now at their lowest level in the past month.

The sharp drop in coffee prices has made many gardeners and coffee producers worried about the price drop ahead of the new year. At this time, people need to shop and spend a lot for the upcoming Tet holiday. At some gardens, early harvest took place at the end of November 2024, missing the coffee price at the time when the price peaked at 130,000 VND/kg.

According to the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association, in recent years, the country's coffee market share (mainly Robusta) has decreased due to the conversion of crop areas. In Dak Lak, intercropping is common as durian trees bring outstanding economic efficiency. Meanwhile, the world's largest coffee producing country, Brazil, has increased the area of Robusta coffee because of better productivity and higher economic efficiency, contributing to boosting exports.

Dry weather conditions in Brazil are supporting the rise in arabica coffee prices, after the Somar Meteorologia agency reported that Brazil's largest arabica coffee growing region, Minas Gerais, received just 29.6 mm of rain last week, equivalent to 31% of the historical average.

The main focus of the market remains on the size of the upcoming crop in Brazil, the world's top coffee producer, which is expected to depend on the extent of damage caused by drought last year, traders said.

It added that increased inventory on the exchange could help curb prices.

Arabica coffee prices rose to a three-week high. Robusta prices fell to a one-week low.
