NATO Secretary General calls for adjusting trajectory of Ukraine conflict

According to RIA Novosti on January 23, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said the alliance must increase, rather than decrease, support Ukraine to change the "wrong" trajectory in its conflict with Russia.

“First of all, we have to increase, not decrease, our support for Ukraine. We need to change the trajectory of the conflict, because what is happening on the front line is wrong, this has to change,” Mark Rutte said at a discussion on Ukraine at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

Mr. Rutte also said that the conflict has "geopolitical" significance, so all Western countries need to participate in supporting Ukraine.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has repeatedly noted that NATO is directly involved in the conflict and not only supplies weapons, but also trains personnel for the Ukrainian army in the UK, Germany, Italy and other countries. The Kremlin stated that pumping weapons from the West to Ukraine does not contribute to the negotiations and will even have a negative impact.

Regarding aid to Ukraine, a former official in the administration of outgoing President Joe Biden said that US President Donald Trump should force Europe to pay for US arms supplies to Ukraine.

While in office, Mr. Biden declared that he would do everything possible to support Ukraine and use all the money allocated by the US government for these purposes.
