After the Lunar New Year holiday, Vietnamese farmers have begun harvesting early-ripening pepper in some areas, and the harvest is expected to be in full swing in the coming time. However, this year, the harvest has been delayed compared to previous years due to unfavorable weather conditions last year.
Currently, the pepper growing area nationwide is about 113,000 hectares, with an estimated output of 190,000 tons. In 2024, Vietnam's pepper exports will reach nearly 250,000 tons, with a record value of 1.31 billion USD, accounting for 40% of global output and 60% of global exports.
Closing 2024, businesses in the pepper industry simultaneously recorded strong growth from 32-68%, with some companies even seeing a sudden increase of 150% in export revenue compared to 2023. Farmers also had a bumper year, earning 60,000-100,000 VND when selling 1 kg of pepper.
World pepper price today
In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of pepper of all types traded in the international market on February 4 (local time) as follows:
Indonesia's Lampung black pepper price increased slightly compared to yesterday to reach 7,219 USD/ton (up 1.07%). In addition, Muntok white pepper price also remained unchanged compared to yesterday to reach 9,694 USD/ton (up 0.05%).

Malaysia's ASTA black pepper price is stable compared to yesterday at 9,000 USD/ton. In addition, the country's ASTA white pepper price is also stable compared to yesterday at 11,600 USD/ton.
Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 6,350 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,650 USD/ton.
Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,550/ton.
Although world pepper prices are currently stable, experts predict that prices may increase in the first quarter of 2025 due to a decline in output from Vietnam and Brazil.
Indonesia, with its stable production, is emerging as a potential supplier, but cannot fully meet global demand. Meanwhile, China, with low pepper inventories, is expected to increase imports right after the Lunar New Year, creating the possibility of price increases in the coming time, especially when Vietnam begins to harvest its main crop.
