Man United are considering a move for Chelsea striker Christopher Nkunku, after talks with Bayern Munich's Mathys Tel failed.

The recent 0-2 defeat to Crystal Palace further showed the Red Devils' lack of attacking options, as midfielder Kobbie Mainoo had to play as a false striker and both Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee had to sit on the bench.

Amorim's attacking options were further curtailed when Marcus Rashford joined Aston Villa on loan. Despite United's attempts to negotiate with Bayern Munich's Mathys Tel, terms were not agreed. Tel also wanted to join United and rejected a £50 million offer from Tottenham, but the two clubs could not agree on terms. As a result, Manchester United had to look elsewhere in the transfer market and French striker Christopher Nkunku emerged as a surprising but still viable option for the Red Devils' last-ditch move.

Nkunku is said to want to leave to have more regular playing opportunities. According to ESPN, MU has expressed interest and is trying to complete the signing of the French striker on the last day of the transfer window. Chelsea spent more than 50 million pounds to recruit Nkunku from RB Leipzig in 2023, but the player has not left his mark when facing many injuries and is currently a backup for Nicolas Jackson. Man United still need a quality addition to bring in a star in the attack, especially in the context that other strikers have not played very consistently in recent times.
