Despite the slight downward adjustment, domestic coffee prices remain high compared to the average of many years. The market is still affected by tight supply as inventories in many major growing regions have fallen sharply.

According to the latest figures, Vietnam’s coffee export volume in January recorded a decrease compared to the same period last year but increased compared to the previous month. The increase in exports has somewhat limited domestic supply, creating an incentive to keep coffee prices high.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market also fluctuate:

Robusta Coffee (London):

March 2025 delivery: Up $90/ton to $5,651/ton.

Delivery in May 2025: Up 111 USD/ton, to 5,675 USD/ton.

Arabica Coffee (New York):

March 2025 delivery: Up 10.65 cents/lb, to 415 cents/lb.

May 2025 delivery: Up 10.95 cents/lb, to 407.65 cents/lb.

Robusta coffee prices have paused their rise for the fourth week after three consecutive weeks of gains.

Information from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam that Vietnam's Robusta exports in January 2025 increased by 6.3% compared to the previous month to 134,000 tons has somewhat cooled down the price of this type of coffee.

Meanwhile, ICE-monitored robusta inventories rose to a four-month high of 4,603 lots on Friday. Arabica inventories also rose to a two-and-a-half-year high of 993,562 bags on January 6 but were short-lived, falling back to a three-month low of 847,805 bags.

Experts predict that after 12 consecutive sessions of increase, Arabica prices are likely to have a technical correction this week. However, limited supply is still the factor keeping prices high.

The Brazilian coffee industry association said Arabica coffee prices will continue to rise in the coming weeks, at least until this year’s harvest, which begins around April or May. The main reason behind the price increase is climate events that affect the harvest. Higher global consumption and the emergence of a new consumer market in China will play a significant role.

Over the past four years, raw material prices have increased 224% and retail coffee prices have increased 110%. Last year, consumer price volatility for roasted and ground coffee was 37.4%.
