Having defeated U19 Binh Phuoc, U19 Song Lam Nghe An will face U19 Viettel in the quarterfinals of the 2025 National U19 Championship.
The second round of matches in Group C of the 2025 National U19 Championship Finals has concluded.U19 Song Lam Nghe AnThey have 4 points and are temporarily ranked second in the group due to an inferior goal difference compared to U19 Hong Linh Ha Tinh.
According to the regulations of the 2025 National U19 Championship, the top 3 teams, the 3 second-place teams, and the 2 best-performing teams from the 3 groups will advance to the quarterfinals. Since Group A has already concluded with both Hanoi and SHB Da Nang eliminated, with 4 points, coach Huy Hoang's team has officially secured a place in the quarterfinals regardless of the results of the final match.
However, to avoid a clash with Viettel in the quarter-finals, U19 Song Lam Nghe An needs to win convincingly with a 4-goal difference against bottom-placed U19 Binh Phuoc.
Because of this, coach Nguyen Huy Hoang used a 4-3-3 formation – a highly attacking formation – to start the match. Four players recently transferred from the first team – Phan Van Thanh, Trong Tuan, Quoc Trung, and Phung Van Nam – all started the game.
That allowed U19 Song Lam Nghe An to completely dominate the game and put strong pressure on the U19 Binh Phuoc goal.
In the early stages of the match, U19 Song Lam Nghe An created several dangerous opportunities in front of the opponent's goal. One of these was converted into a goal by Quoc Khanh, opening the scoring for U19 Song Lam Nghe An. In the 6th minute, from a precise cross by Tan Minh into the middle of the Binh Phuoc goal, Quoc Khanh rose high and headed the ball skillfully into the net past goalkeeper Duy Hau.
After scoring, U19 Song Lam Nghe An continued to press in search of more opportunities. However, it wasn't until the 30th minute that Phung Van Nam scored to double the lead for the team from Nghe An.
In the second half, coach Nguyen Huy Hoang's team continued to push forward, launching relentless attacks on Binh Phuoc's goal. After several missed opportunities, in the 57th minute, Quoc Khanh scored again to increase the lead to 3-0 for U19 Song Lam Nghe An. The goal came from a perfectly executed penalty kick by the striker wearing jersey number 9, but credit must be given to Quoc Trung for winning the penalty for the Nghe An team.
In the final minutes of the match, Song Lam Nghe An poured all their efforts into attacking in an attempt to create a four-goal lead. However, due to a lack of luck, coach Nguyen Huy Hoang's team was unable to find the net of Binh Phuoc again.
Thus, with a 3-0 victory, U19 Song Lam Nghe An finished second in Group C, and will face the strong U19 Viettel team in the quarter-finals.
