President Trump expressed confidence that a deal to end the conflict in Ukraine will be reached this week.

According to RIA Novosti on February 23, White House press secretary Carolyn Levitt said that US President Donald Trump believes that an agreement to end the conflict in Ukraine can be reached as early as this week.

"The president and his team are focused on negotiating with both sides to end this conflict, and he is very confident that we can achieve that as early as this week," the White House press secretary said.

Carolyn Levitt added that Washington continues to maintain active diplomatic efforts, with National Security Adviser Mike Waltz working around the clock this weekend to reach an agreement and end the conflict.

The White House press secretary said President Donald Trump wants peace, wants the casualties to end and wants innocent people to no longer suffer.

“That's his main goal right now," Carolyn Levitt stressed.

When asked about a possible meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin, a White House spokesman said he could not announce or clarify anything yet, but noted that the White House was continuing to negotiate with both sides.

Meanwhile, the co-head of the US Government Performance Board - Elon Musk shared his opinion on social network X that Mr. Volodymyr Zelensky "is no longer the president of Ukraine".

"Zelensky was fired from his job," billionaire Elon Musk wrote.

Earlier on February 19, President Donald Trump posted a message calling Mr. Zelensky an “unelected dictator” and calling for support for holding elections in Ukraine.
President Zelensky's term ends on May 20, 2024. The 2024 presidential election in Ukraine was canceled, citing martial law and general mobilization. Mr. Zelensky stated that holding elections in such a situation was untimely.
