Giá tiêu hôm nay 26/2/2025: Tiếp tục giảm mạnh

Currently, pepper in the province is entering the harvest season, but the output is not much. Because this is the early stage of the season, transactions are not yet bustling. This year's output is expected to decrease due to unfavorable weather factors and reduced cultivation area.

Currently, pepper prices are high, farmers only need to sell a small amount to cover their expenses. Therefore, pepper hoarding activities have increased with the expectation that pepper prices may increase further in the near future.

Ms. Hoang Thi Lien - President of VPSA shared that due to the recent increase in pepper prices, the business community has been better prepared for the next crop years.

In the trend of rising pepper prices, many businesses have better prepared their goods sources, as well as long-term contracts, reducing fake contracts.

World pepper price today

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of all types of pepper traded in the international market on February 26 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $7,356 per tonne. Similarly, Muntok white pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $10,125 per tonne.

Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,800/mt.

Malaysia's ASTA black pepper price is stable compared to yesterday at 9,500 USD/ton. In addition, the country's ASTA white pepper price is also stable compared to yesterday at 12,000 USD/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained stable compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of 500 gr/l black pepper in Vietnam reached 6,500 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,650 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,550/ton.

According to the International Pepper Community (IPC), global pepper production in 2024 will decrease by about 4% (22,000 tons) compared to 2023, to only 558,000 tons. This decrease in pepper volume mainly comes from Brazil and Vietnam.

IPC forecasts that global pepper output in 2025 will continue to decrease compared to 2024 as pepper is no longer the main crop of many farmers. In addition, climate change reduces productivity, while the cost of maintaining pepper production increases.

In the short term, pepper prices are expected to remain high. However, IPC believes that it is difficult to make medium and long-term forecasts due to the instability of geopolitical factors and the impact of climate change.
