According to RIA Novosti on February 26, Fox News reported that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky plans to travel to Washington this Friday (February 28) to meet with US President Donald Trump.

“President Volodymyr Zelensky is planning to travel to Washington on Friday to meet with President Donald Trump, after officials agreed on the terms of a draft mineral deal,” the Fox News host said live on air.

In response, the White House press pool said President Donald Trump said he would not object to Mr Zelensky's visit to Washington on Friday "if he wanted to".

"I heard Mr. Zelensky is coming on Friday, of course I don't mind, if he wants to," Fox News quoted President Trump as saying.

President Trump noted that at the meeting they will discuss plans to return previously provided US funds to Ukraine. Specifically, the signing of an agreement on Ukraine's rare earth mineral natural resources is currently under discussion.

Mr Trump said a future deal with Ukraine on rare earth metals could be worth up to $1 trillion.

"This is a very big deal. This could be a trillion-dollar deal," Mr Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, commenting on a potential deal between Washington and Kiev.

Earlier, US Presidential Advisor Mike Walz said that Mr. Zelensky needed to return to negotiations on the rare earth deal to compensate the US for the aid provided to Kiev, and expressed confidence that Mr. Zelensky would soon "achieve his goal".
