According to RIA Novosti on March 6, when commenting on French President Emmanuel Macron's statement about the threat from Russia, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council and Chairman of the United Russia party Dmitry Medvedev said that the French leader himself will "disappear" from politics in May 2027 and no one will notice.

President Macron's second term will end in May 2027.

"However, Macron himself is not a big threat. He will disappear forever, at the latest on May 14, 2027. And no one will pay attention to him" – Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev wrote on the social network X in English.

Earlier, in a speech broadcast on BFMTV, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Russia has become a “threat” to France and Europe. Mr. Macron added that he believes Russia poses a threat to Europe in the air, on social media and in cyberspace in general. He also stated that Russia “continues to rearm”.

In addition, President Macron said he had decided to open a discussion on the use of French nuclear weapons to protect the entire EU. He also said France would convene the EU military commanders next week to discuss peacekeeping operations to ensure the security of Ukraine.

State Duma deputy from the Crimea region, member of the security committee, Mikhail Sheremet, called the French President's statement “absurd”.

“Macron’s hysteria is absurd. If we look at history, we will see that it was France that always posed a threat to Russia, sending troops to Moscow. That is why today Macron is muddying the waters in Europe, raising the level of Russophobia to push Germany, which has given up economically and politically, to become the sole leader of the European Union,” said State Duma deputy Sheremet.

According to Mr. Sheremet, President Macron seems to need an enemy to unite Europe, and there is no better option than “labeling Russia as an enemy”.

Meanwhile, the leader of the French Patriotic Party, Florian Philippot, said that President Macron wants the conflict in Ukraine to continue and is mocking and threatening the French with the "threat" from Russia.

Sending French troops to Ukraine – something the people do not want – would be a “crime against peace” and “would make the situation worse for a long time,” Phillippot said.

The leader of the French Patriotic Party said that President Macron is obsessed with the "threat from Russia" and sees it everywhere, "not even hesitating to repeat fake news about Russia's interference in the Romanian election".

Commenting on President Macron's address to the nation, Mr. Philippot noted that "the worst thing is the following": "there will be a lot of troops in Ukraine", we are moving towards "protecting Europe", this is the first step towards a European army.
