Opening Ceremony of the Bach Ma Temple Festival 2025
On the evening of March 8th (corresponding to the 9th day of the 2nd lunar month of the Year of the Snake), Thanh Chuong district held the opening ceremony of the Bach Ma Temple Festival 2025 with solemn traditional rituals and many distinctive festival activities of Thanh Chuong homeland.
Attending the opening ceremony of the festival were Mr. Nguyen Thanh An – Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; leaders of Thanh Chuong district and a large number of local people and tourists from all over.
The Bach Ma Temple Festival is one of the oldest festivals in Nghe An province, dating back over 500 years and closely associated with the construction of Bach Ma Temple. Over time, the Bach Ma Temple Festival has evolved to suit the evolving needs and cultural preferences of the people. The Bach Ma Temple Festival was recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism under Decision No. 2969/QD-BVHTTDL dated August 27, 2019.
The Bach Ma Temple Festival is held annually to preserve and promote the values of national cultural heritage, contributing to meeting the spiritual and cultural needs of the people, educating the tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source," and commemorating the contributions of General Phan Da and other national heroes.
The existence of the Bach Ma Temple Festival is a link connecting the past, present, and future, ensuring that the cultural traditions of Thanh Chuong - Nghe An province will forever endure in the national culture.
The Bach Ma Temple Festival in 2025 will be organized with the followingThe solemn traditional ceremony, rich in national identity, took place from March 6th to 9th (corresponding to February 7th to 10th in the year of the Snake), and included: the opening ceremony; the incense offering ceremony at the tomb of General Phan Đà; the incense offering ceremony at Phủ Ngoại; the procession; the announcement ceremony; the sacrifice to the White Horse deity; and the thanksgiving ceremony.
The festival, featuring many unique activities rich in national identity and the culture of Thanh Chuong, was held over two days, March 8th and 9th, including: a poetry reading, a men's volleyball tournament, and traditional folk games such as wrestling, pot smashing, stilt walking, and tug-of-war…
Within the framework of the festival program, the People's Committee of Thanh Chuong district, in coordination with the Nghe Tinh Soviet Museum, organized an exhibition of images about the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement; set up a booth to display and introduce OCOP products, characteristic of the mountainous and midland district of Thanh Chuong; and displayed a booth showcasing digital transformation…
The Bach Ma Temple Festival 2025 officially opened on the evening of March 8, 2025. Following the opening speech, the "Elegant Female Student Contest of the Bach Ma Temple Festival 2025" took place.
The competition featured 14 female students selected from 7 high schools in the district. The contestants went through four rounds of competition, including a traditional Vietnamese dress (áo dài) presentation; a self-chosen outfit competition; a talent competition; and a Q&A session.
