According to the Import-Export Department (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the pepper harvest in Dak Nong province is going strong, but people still tend to hold on to their goods, causing limited supply. Meanwhile, in Dak Lak, the second largest pepper producing region in the country, the harvest is expected to take place in the next 2-3 weeks, increasing concerns about short-term supply pressure.
According to VTV, pepper prices are currently fluctuating around 160,000 VND/kg, the highest level in nearly a decade. Export prices are also maintained at around 7,000 - 7,200 USD/ton, depending on the type.
With this price, farmers not only have higher income but also have the motivation to invest and take better care of their pepper gardens, thereby improving economic efficiency and stabilizing their lives. The increase in pepper prices also causes many people to choose to stockpile the product, helping to reduce the pressure to sell during the harvest season.
