Nghe An solemnly celebrates the 90th anniversary of the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Force's Traditional Day
On the morning of March 28, in Vinh city, the People's Committee of Nghe An province held a ceremony to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Vietnam Militia and Self-Defense Force's Traditional Day (March 28, 1935 - March 28, 2025).

Attending the ceremony were Lieutenant General Tran Vo Dung - Party Secretary, Political Commissar of Military Region 4.
Leaders of Nghe An province include comrades: Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Nam Dinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council.
The leaders of the Provincial Military Command included Colonel Phan Dai Nghia - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command; Colonel Nguyen Ky Hong - Deputy Secretary of the Military Party Committee, Political Commissar of the Provincial Military Command; and representatives of departments, branches, sectors, and militia and self-defense forces through the periods.
Proud of the tradition of "square star soldiers"
The Nghe An Militia and Self-Defense Force was established very early, its predecessor was the Red Guards in the Soviet-Nghe Tinh movement. This was also the main force to establish the Nghe An armed forces on August 21, 1945, together with the people of the province, rising up to make the August Revolution a success, making Nghe An one of the localities that gained power early in the country.

Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Colonel Phan Dai Nghia - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command reviewed a glorious historical period and the heroic and resilient tradition and expressed gratitude for the great contributions of the provincial Militia and Self-Defense Force in the struggle for national liberation, national defense and homeland construction.
With great achievements in combat, combat service and production labor, 10 groups and 3 individuals in the Nghe An Province Militia and Self-Defense Force were awarded the title of Hero of the Armed Forces and other noble rewards by the State.

Proudly promoting the tradition of "square star soldiers" in the new situation, Colonel Phan Dai Nghia emphasized 4 key groups of tasks to continue improving the quality and effectiveness of the Militia and Self-Defense Force's operations in the coming time.
In particular, he emphasized that he will continue to build the Militia and Self-Defense Force according to the motto "strong, widespread", with increasingly high overall quality, adequate structure and composition, quality and effective operations, suitable for each locality.
Building a "strong and widespread" grassroots militia force

Speaking at the Anniversary Ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province Le Hong Vinh affirmed: After 90 years of construction, fighting, serving in combat, laboring in production and working, under the leadership of the Party Committee, the love and care of the People, the Militia and Self-Defense Force has continuously grown and developed, contributing to the glorious feats in the cause of national liberation, national reunification as well as in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, contributing to the achievements of the province's armed forces being twice awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.

To continue promoting the glorious tradition and improving the quality and effectiveness of the Militia and Self-Defense Force's operations in the coming time, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized 4 key groups of tasks.
First of all, local Party committees, authorities and military agencies at all levels regularly pay attention to building a "strong and widespread" grassroots militia and self-defense force, together with the commune-level police force, to maintain political security and social order and safety, contributing to the implementation of national defense and security tasks in the locality.

At the same time, organize strict and serious training with full program content, foster and improve practical operational capacity, especially the ability to grasp and handle situations; attach importance to practicing and rehearsing according to combat readiness plans, commune-level defensive combat and plans to prevent, combat and overcome consequences of incidents, natural disasters, search and rescue, and disease prevention to deal with non-traditional security, not to be passive or surprised.

Ensure adequate facilities, weapons, support tools, uniforms; allowances and regimes for officers and soldiers during concentrated training, drills, activities and combat when situations arise.
“Agencies and units regularly pay attention to and care for the material and spiritual life of the Militia and Self-Defense Forces. Create favorable conditions for the Militia and Self-Defense Forces to work with peace of mind and complete all assigned tasks well,” said the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

On this occasion, on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, Comrade Le Hong Vinh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, presented the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to Colonel Phan Dai Nghia - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command for his outstanding achievements in training, combat readiness, and production from 2019 to 2023, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 11 collectives and 9 individuals for their outstanding achievements in organizing activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024).


10 collectives received Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Militia and Self-Defense Force Tradition Day (March 28, 1935 - March 28, 2025) for their outstanding achievements in advising, organizing, building, training and organizing activities of the Militia and Self-Defense Force of Nghe An province.
