Giá tiêu hôm nay 10/4/2025: Xuất khẩu giảm mạnh

Domestic pepper prices are falling sharply, largely due to supply pressure from the new harvest and concerns about reciprocal tariffs from the US. This situation has many farmers and exporters worried, especially about the ability to consume products in the coming time.

Mr. Le Viet Anh, General Secretary of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), said that some orders have been suspended by partners and they are waiting for more information on tax policies. The President of VPSA is currently on a business trip to the US, with the aim of negotiating to resolve obstacles related to tax issues.

This situation has directly affected domestic production activities. Export enterprises are at risk of temporary liquidity loss, high inventory levels, and stagnant raw material purchases, causing pepper prices to continuously decrease in recent days.

Without timely solutions, Vietnam may lose market share in the US market. This will also affect export turnover in 2025, causing the cultivation area of raw materials to be at risk of shrinking.

Some traders have rushed to sell due to concerns about tax policies. However, there are also cases where some traders take advantage of this information to call on people to sell at low prices, then secretly collect the remaining goods.

In the long term, businesses need to proactively invest in deep processing and reduce dependence on raw exports. Diversifying export markets will help limit risks when a major market fluctuates, while avoiding price pressure at important times.

In addition, it is necessary to improve transparency in the production and supply chain. The practice of third countries using Vietnam's name to avoid taxes, as in the past, needs to be strictly controlled.
