Sentencing of transnational motorbike theft and trafficking gang
Ly Nhat Quy Cuong was the leader of a motorbike theft ring in many provinces and cities to sell to Cambodia. The ring was broken up, and the subjects in the case were sentenced to prison.
Nghe An Provincial People's Court has just opened a trial of Ly Nhat Quy Cuong (born 1998), residing in Thanh Thoi An commune, Tran De district, Soc Trang province, for the crime of "Theft of property”.
Accomplices in the case include: Nguyen Dinh Son (born in 1989), Le Khac Dung (born in 1988), Nguyen Van Cuong (born in 1987), residing in Nghe An; Le Dinh Giang (born in 1989), Pham Ba Quyen (born in 1989), residing in Thanh Hoa; Thai Xuan Duc (born in 2003), Nguyen Duc Vu (born in 2003), all residing in Ha Tinh, and Bui Trong Quoc (born in 1993), residing in Bac Ninh.
The two defendants Nguyen Vu Len (born in 1994) and Danh Vang Linh (born in 2002), both residing in Kien Giang province, were prosecuted for the crime of "Receiving property obtained through criminal acts by others".

According to the case file, due to needing money for personal expenses, Ly Nhat Quy Cuong posted on social media about buying stolen cars to resell for profit.
Cuong got acquainted with the subjects: Son, Duc, Dung, Giang, Cuong, Quyen, Quoc and agreed to contact them when there was a stolen vehicle and they would buy it.
In order to facilitate the collection of vehicles from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, Cuong discussed with Nguyen Duc Vu to receive the vehicles and replace the damaged locks that were broken by thieves using a "vamp". Vu also took on the task of gathering and sending the "goods" to Cuong.
During the period from April to May 2024, Nguyen Dinh Son stole 20 motorbikes (worth more than 210 million VND); Thai Xuan Duc stole 14 motorbikes (worth more than 144 million VND).
Le Khac Dung stole 2 motorbikes (worth more than 19 million VND); Le Dinh Giang stole 11 motorbikes (worth more than 194 million VND); Nguyen Van Cuong stole 6 motorbikes (worth more than 112 million VND); Pham Ba Quyen stole 7 motorbikes (worth more than 106 million VND); Bui Trong Quoc stole 3 motorbikes (worth 81 million VND) from many people in many provinces and cities.
Nguyen Duc Vu gathered and transported 18 stolen vehicles to Ho Chi Minh City for Cuong.
Cuong bought 35 cars (worth 491 million VND). Then, Cuong sold 14 cars to Nguyen Vu Len, illegally profited more than 47 million VND and sold the cars to groups on social networks.
Len sold the motorbikes he bought to Phen (Cambodian, name and specific address unknown), illegally profiting more than 14 million VND.
In this case, Danh Vang Linh was the subject who helped "Phen" receive and collect cars from Vietnamese car dealers before the "goods" were brought across the Cambodian border.
At the trial, the defendants all admitted their crimes and expressed remorse.
After considering the role of each defendant in the case, the panel sentenced Ly Nhat Quy Cuong to 13 years in prison, Nguyen Dinh Son to 10 years in prison, Nguyen Duc Vu to 7 years in prison, Thai Xuan Duc to 6 years in prison, Le Dinh Giang to 6 years in prison, Nguyen Van Cuong to 5 years in prison, Pham Ba Quyen to 4 years and 6 months in prison, Bui Trong Quoc to 4 years in prison, and Le Khac Dung to 9 months in prison, all for the crime of "Theft of property".
For the crime of "Receiving property obtained by another person through criminal means", defendant Nguyen Vu Len was sentenced to 5 years in prison, Danh Vang Linh to 3 years in prison with a suspended sentence.
