Reuters, citing Ukrainian Parliament spokesman Ruslan Stefanchuk, reported that preparations for the upcoming elections have begun in Ukraine and are currently in their early stages.

"Preparations for the upcoming election have begun, but it is still in a very early stage," said Ms. Stenfanchuk.

According to this source, after the conflict ends, Ukraine must pass new legislation regulating the timing and rules of voting. Spokesman Stefanchuk said that officials and experts have been working on this issue, but the draft law has not yet been implemented.

Furthermore, no decision has yet been made regarding the order in which local, parliamentary, and presidential elections will be held. And according to the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, holding these elections simultaneously is impractical.

Last week, the publication "Strana.ua" reported that the office of President Volodymyr Zelensky had begun preparations for the election. According to media sources, the key figure in this process is the head of Ukraine's Ministry of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, as one of the options being discussed for organizing the election involves the use of the state-run "Diya" application, and the Kyiv authorities are considering the possibility of directly adjusting the results accordingly.

In late March 2025, The Economist, citing sources in Kyiv, reported that in the event of a complete ceasefire in April, the presidential election in Ukraine could be held in early July 2025, as President Zelensky wanted to avoid competition with other candidates.

Zelensky's presidential term ended on May 20, 2024. The 2024 presidential election was canceled due to martial law and general mobilization. Zelensky called the election "untimely."
