The 'divine' moment of Meritorious Artist Huu Muoi in the movie 'When will October come'
Meritorious Artist Huu Muoi said he had never in his life been scolded so harshly by a director with the words: "You are about to change roles."
Fired from the role, almost lost the dream of becoming a state-owned actor
When until October?- The exquisite post-war film by director Dang Nhat Minh, released in 1984, has become one of the 18 best Asian films of all time as voted by CNN. Without bombs and bullets but still pushing the pain to the end, the film tells the story of Duyen, played by Meritorious Artist Le Van, a young wife who has to hide the pain of losing her husband from her family.
Meritorious Artist Huu Muoi - who played the role of teacher Khang - could not hide his emotions when recalling: "The film left me with many happy memories but also extremely sad ones. I have never seen two actors in the same film win awards. It is a very honorable feeling."

Playing the role of teacher Khang did not come naturally to Nguyen Huu Muoi. Director Dang Nhat Minh once said that he had just finished playing teacher Thu (film).Vu Dai Village in those days - PV) and the role of teacher Khang had similar features, Huu Muoi felt very sad. But a few months later, the director said that after thinking about it again, he would feel better playing the role.
However, this precious opportunity was almost lost due to an unfortunate incident. While the film crew was filming the Cheo singing scene, Huu Muoi was distracted by fans. He recounted with a voice still filled with regret: "I was almost fired from this role when I had already played half of it. When I was fired, the artistic horizon collapsed on my face. My dream of becoming a state-owned actor went up in smoke."
While the crew was preparing to film, he sat talking to the audience, eating jujubes and drinking tea, forgetting his mission, so the crew had to go find him. When Huu Muoi ran back, the order to close the camera was given. He admitted that he had never in his life been scolded so harshly by a director with the words: "Prepare to change roles."
The face of a lifetime acting
The strange thing is that it was that anger that created the moment of inspiration. Director Dang Nhat Minh still remembers Huu Muoi's expression and to this day he still cannot forget that face.
But for Nguyen Huu Muoi, it was not a moment of acting but a real shame. "When I was scolded, I just wished the ground would split open so I could crawl under it, it would be more enjoyable," Huu Muoi said.

Two years after the incident, when he studied directing and filmmaking, he finally understood why directors had such temper tantrums. Huu Muoi realized that a director who shows up late to a film set and actors who are not focused on their roles lacks professional discipline.
Acting with Le Van and Huu Muoi was a great honor. "She only needed to wear a brown shirt and everyone would recognize her as a typical country woman. Acting with Le Van at that time was very enjoyable," the artist said.
