Coffee prices today, May 12, 2025: Slightly down from last week.
Today, May 12th, domestic coffee prices are at 128,000 - 128,300 VND/kg. Domestic coffee prices remain unchanged compared to yesterday. The peak coffee prices have given a boost to many businesses investing in opening processing plants.
Domestic coffee prices today
Domestic coffee prices in the Central Highlands region today, May 12, 2025, remain unchanged compared to yesterday, fluctuating between 128,000 and 128,300 VND/kg.
Accordingly, traders in Dak Nong province are buying coffee at the highest price of 128,300 VND/kg. This remains unchanged from yesterday.
Similarly, the price of coffee in Dak Lak province remains unchanged from yesterday at 128,200 VND/kg.
Coffee prices in Gia Lai province remained unchanged, trading at 128,100 VND/kg.
In Lam Dong province, coffee prices remained unchanged at 128,000 VND/kg.
At the end of last week, coffee prices in the Central Highlands region decreased by 1000 to 1800 VND/kg compared to the previous week. Dak Lak recorded the sharpest decrease of 1800 VND/kg, while Dak Nong also saw a decrease of 1700 VND/kg. In Gia Lai, coffee prices fell by 1600 VND/kg, while Lam Dong recorded the smallest decrease of 1000 VND/kg.
According to Mr. Nguyen Nam Hai of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (Vicofa), over the past 30 years, the sharp increase in coffee prices has become a driving force for businesses to invest in processing technology. Businesses now want to increase the value of their products instead of just exporting green coffee beans as before.
He believes this is the right time to accelerate the shift from exporting raw materials to deep processing, which will increase value and bring sustainable benefits to the entire supply chain.
World coffee prices today
Coffee prices on the world market showed mixed movements on the two exchanges:
Robusta coffee (London):
July 2025 delivery: Decreased by $39/ton, to $5,226/ton.
September 2025 delivery: Down $32/ton, to $5,181/ton.
Arabica coffee (New York):
July 2025 delivery: Up 0.4 cents/lb, to 387.75 cents/lb.
September 2025 delivery: Up 0.65 cents/lb, to 382.45 cents/lb.
On the international market, robusta coffee prices on the London Exchange fell last week. Specifically, the July 2025 contract decreased by 1.2%, while the September 2025 contract decreased by 1%.
Meanwhile, Arabica coffee prices on the New York Exchange rose slightly. The July 2025 contract increased by 0.6% and the September 2025 contract increased by 1% compared to the previous week.
Coffee prices this past week were supported by a weakening US dollar. However, the upward momentum was curbed by concerns about global supply, particularly as Brazil enters its robusta harvest season, potentially leading to more abundant supply in the near future.
