Possessing technique, speed and experience playing in Europe, Vietnamese-American striker Alex Bui is expected to bring a breath of fresh air to U22 Vietnam, while affirming the strategic direction in developing Vietnamese-American players.

Amidst the strong flow of modern football, where finding and discovering talent is always a fierce race, the name Alex Bui is gradually emerging as a bright gem in the community of overseas Vietnamese players.

Born in 2005 in Prague, Czech Republic, Alex Bui is 1m78 tall, not only impressing with his personal technique, speed, ball control and passing ability, but also standing out with his ability to finish effectively with both feet. He is a versatile player, able to play as an attacking midfielder, winger and striker, and has been a main striker for many years in Czech youth teams.

In 2025, Alex scored two goals in the Third Division of the Czech Republic, demonstrating his clear professional maturity. Adding a player like Alex to the Vietnam U22 team is a strategic step in the effort to integrate and expand the influence of Vietnamese football to the overseas Vietnamese community, in order to find new quality resources for the country's football.

Few people expected that Alex's journey to football would start from a time when he... got lost. When he was only 8 years old, during a trip to Barcelona, he got lost because he was too engrossed in playing football in a local stadium. That moment was the turning point that brought Alex closer to his passion for football. His family soon recognized his talent and decided to seriously invest in his journey to pursue professional football.

Alex Bui's father is Ngo Quoc Danh, from Quang Binh, and his mother is Bui Thu Nhung, from Hai Phong. They moved to the Czech Republic in 2002 with the hope of a better future. Although life in a foreign land is not without its hardships, they have always given their love and support to their son who has a special talent for football.

The father - Mr. Danh, is not only a spiritual support but also a companion who stands by his son in every match, training trip, or career-deciding moment. It is this sacrifice and companionship that has helped Alex firmly overcome the harsh training environment, where competition and elimination are always present every day.

From years of continuous training in the youth training centers in the Czech Republic, Alex has grown up and is currently playing for Bohemians Praha 1905 Club, where he is constantly honored as the best player and is in the top 10/778 players with the most goals in the Czech league. However, Alex is always modest and does not like to talk much about his achievements.

“I started playing football when I was around 6 or 8 years old at Libuš Club. My dad was the one who introduced me to the sport and was always there for me from the beginning. Cristiano Ronaldo is my biggest idol. I know I don’t have the physical advantage, but I’m fast and I always try to improve myself,” Alex shared.

Despite playing professionally, Alex still has to balance between studying and football, a big challenge for any young player. His immediate goal is to play in the Czech 1. Liga, and further, to conquer the Premier League, the most attractive tournament on the planet. "Playing professional football is a trade-off of a lot of time and effort. But I have never, and will never regret my choice," he affirmed.

Family, especially his father from Quang Binh, has always been a great source of motivation for Alex to continue on the path of pursuing professional football. The advice, encouragement and even pointing out weaknesses that need to be overcome have helped Alex to constantly improve. “There are always people who tell me to give up football. But I don’t care. I know the path I have chosen,” Alex said.

While the U22 Vietnam team is actively preparing for the important tasks ahead, the appearance of potential names like Alex Bui not only brings a breath of fresh air in terms of expertise, but is also a clear demonstration of the proactive integration strategy of Vietnamese football.

According to the plan, during this training session, the U22 Vietnam team will continue to practice at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center to consolidate their playing style, perfect their squad, and prepare for important upcoming goals. This is part of the roadmap that the Vietnam Football Federation has implemented very early, with a systematic and synchronized approach with the national team during the FIFA Days - aiming to build a solid and long-term foundation for the future of the country's football./.
