Solemnly held the State Funeral of former President Tran Duc Luong
On the morning of May 24, at the National Funeral House - No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi, the Party Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the family solemnly held a State Funeral Ceremony for Comrade Tran Duc Luong - former Politburo member, former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

From early morning, delegations of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, officers and soldiers of the armed forces, along with a large number of officers, party members and people from all walks of life were present at the Funeral Home to attend the funeral of former President Tran Duc Luong; expressing gratitude, respect and condolences to the leader who devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Vietnamese people.

Lying in the most solemn position, in the middle of the ceremony platform, the coffin of former President Tran Duc Luong was covered with a bright red national flag. In front of the coffin of comrade Tran Duc Luong, above was the national flag with a black ribbon, prominently displaying the words "Deeply mourning comrade Tran Duc Luong - former member of the Politburo, former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam" and his portrait.
In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, at exactly 7 o'clock, the funeral of former President Tran Duc Luong was solemnly held with the sad music "Soul of the Dead Soldier" in the background.




In infinite sorrow, the Central Party Executive Committee delegation led by General Secretary To Lam visited comrade Tran Duc Luong and expressed condolences to his family.

The wreaths of the Delegations bore the words "Deeply mourning comrade Tran Duc Luong!".

Also coming to pay their respects and offer condolences to the family of comrade Tran Duc Luong were former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; former Presidents Nguyen Minh Triet and Truong Tan Sang; former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung; former National Assembly Chairmen Nguyen Sinh Hung and Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, along with many other leaders and former leaders of the Party and State.
Leaders and former leaders of the Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front walked around the coffin to say goodbye to former President Tran Duc Luong, a devoted and responsible comrade with great and outstanding contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Vietnamese people.
At the same time, the funeral of former President Tran Duc Luong was solemnly held at Thong Nhat Hall, Ho Chi Minh City and Hall T50, Military Command of Quang Ngai province, the hometown of comrade Tran Duc Luong.



Comrade Tran Duc Luong - former member of the Politburo, former President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, former Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, born on May 5, 1937; hometown: Pho Khanh Commune, Duc Pho District (now Duc Pho Town), Quang Ngai Province; permanent residence at No. 298, Van Phuc Street, Lieu Giai Ward, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi City.
After a period of serious illness, despite the devoted treatment of the Party, the State, the collective of professors, doctors, and nurses, and the wholehearted care of his family, due to old age and serious illness, he passed away at 22:51, May 20, 2025 (April 23, At Ty year), at his home, at the age of 88.
During more than 50 years of revolutionary activities, he made many great contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He was awarded the Gold Star Order, the 65-year Party membership badge and many other noble orders, medals, awards and titles by the Party and the State.
