According to RIA Novosti on June 2nd, Irish journalist Chay Bowes expressed the view in an interview with British politician George Gulloway that Ukraine's attack on Russian airports shows that the Kiev authorities are completely desperate.

"This is a desperate act and an attempt to provoke Russia into acting rashly," expert Bowes said.

According to this expert, Ukraine launched the offensive to mask its dire situation on the front lines and divert attention from recent significant military and political setbacks.

"They want to downplay the severity of the failed counteroffensive, they want to downplay the severity of the disaster in Kursk, they want to downplay the severity of the fact that Ukraine is in a deep crisis, where people can be forcibly taken to the front lines in the streets or anywhere else," expert Bowes said.

Florian Philippot, leader of the French Patriotic Party, argued that by carrying out a terrorist attack on Russian airports, President Volodymyr Zelensky had proven that he was not seeking to end the conflict in Ukraine.

"Mr. Zelensky has just proven that he stubbornly refuses peace," the Philippot party leader wrote on his personal page.

According to this politician, this attack was planned with the support of Kyiv's European partners, who are also only interested in continuing military action. He explained that if the conflict ended, President Zelensky would lose power and the European elite would lose their source of wealth.

“The best way to sabotage any ongoing peace negotiations, to make dialogue impossible, and to add fuel to the fire is on the eve of the peace talks. Enough is enough! They are doing everything they can to start World War III: stop them!” - Philippot urged.

On June 1st, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that the Kiev authorities had carried out a terrorist drone attack targeting airports in the Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, Ryazan, and Amur regions. All attacks by Kiev on airports in the Ivanovo, Ryazan, and Amur regions were repelled. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, fires caused by Ukrainian attacks on airports in the Murmansk and Irkutsk regions were extinguished, and there were no casualties.
