According to RIA Novosti on June 2, Irish journalist Chay Bowes expressed his opinion in an interview with British politician George Gulloway that Ukraine's attack on Russian airports shows that the Kiev government is completely desperate.

"This is a desperate act and an attempt to provoke Russia into acting rashly," said expert Bowes.

According to the expert, Ukraine launched the offensive to hide its dire situation on the front and distract attention from recent notable military and political failures.

“They want to downplay the failure of the counteroffensive, they want to downplay the disaster in Kursk, they want to downplay the fact that Ukraine is in a deep crisis where people can be forced right off the streets or anywhere to go to the front,” said Bowes.

By carrying out a terrorist attack on Russian airports, President Volodymyr Zelensky has demonstrated that he does not seek to end the conflict in Ukraine, said the leader of the French Patriotic Party Florian Philippot.

"Mr. Zelensky has just proven that he stubbornly refuses peace," the leader of the Philippot party wrote on his personal page.

According to the politician, the offensive was planned with the support of Kiev's European partners, who are also only interested in continuing military action. He explained that if the conflict ends, President Zelensky will lose power and the European elite will lose a source of enrichment.

“The best way to sabotage all ongoing peace talks, make dialogue impossible, and add fuel to the fire is on the eve of peace talks. Enough! They are doing everything they can to start World War III: stop them!”, Mr. Philippot called.

On June 1, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Kiev authorities had carried out a terrorist attack using drones on airports in the Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, Ryazan and Amur regions. All attacks by Kiev on airports in the Ivanovo, Ryazan and Amur regions were repelled. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, fires that were caused by Ukrainian attacks on airports in the Murmansk and Irkutsk regions were extinguished and there were no casualties.
