After leaving government, billionaire Elon Musk called for "destroying" President Donald Trump's bill.
According to RIA Novosti, American billionaire Elon Musk, a former advisor to the US government, wrote on social media platform X opposing President Donald Trump's large-scale initiative to cut federal spending. Elon Musk called it a threat to the American economy and urged the bill to be "destroyed."
"We need to develop a new bill that doesn't increase the deficit and the debt ceiling by another $5 trillion. Call your senator, call your congressman. Bringing America to the brink of bankruptcy is unacceptable! Destroy that bill," Elon Musk wrote on X on June 4th.
The billionaire emphasized that he considered the idea of bringing the country to "financial collapse" to be unimaginable.
Earlier, Musk had criticized President Trump's so-called "big, beautiful bill" approved by the House of Representatives, saying that the document would erase his own work in the public sector and lead to an increase in the US budget deficit.
On June 3rd, on the social media platform X, billionaire Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, wrote: “I’m sorry, but I can’t take it anymore. This Congressional spending bill, riddled with special interests, is an abomination. Shame on those who voted for it. You know it’s wrong.”
The bill includes extending tax cuts from 2017, increasing defense spending, and border security. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) warned that the bill would further increase the deficit.3.8 trillion USD, pushing public debt up even further.36 trillion USD.
The Senate, where Republicans hold control, is expected to revise the House version before putting it to a vote, with the goal of completing the process by July 4th.
