According to TASS on June 16, commenting on the fact that European governments will need to nearly double the flow of funding to replace US support for Ukraine, Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov said that increasing European financial support for Kiev will not change the situation on the battlefield, but it will cost the Europeans dearly.

"Can Europe replace the role of financial support for Kiev from the United States? It is possible, but it will cost Europe a lot. And this despite the fact that the game is clearly not worth it for Europe to get involved, because huge amounts of money, as before, will simply disappear into the bottomless hole called Ukraine," Senator Pushkov wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to Mr. Pushkov, “if even the United States stops its continuous support for Ukraine, then the only thing the Europeans will achieve without the United States, even by doubling the amount of aid, is that they will eventually withdraw.”

Previously, in an interview with Bloomberg on June 14, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that Britain would not send troops to Ukraine after the conflict was resolved, without the guarantee of a similar force from the US.

“I have always said that American protection is necessary,” said Prime Minister Starmer, answering a question about the possibility of deploying British troops as part of a “coalition of those who want” in Ukraine and “without American support.” At the same time, Prime Minister Starmer added, “there is no reason to believe that the United States and the United Kingdom cannot act together, as they have done throughout history.”
