The National Assembly completes its organizational structure and prepares for the election of a new term.

On June 25, the National Assembly voted to pass the National Assembly Resolution on the establishment of the National Election Council with 425/426 (accounting for 99.76%) of delegates participating in the vote in favor.

In this Resolution, the National Assembly resolved to establish a National Election Council consisting of 19 members.

According to the Resolution, the Chairman of the National Election Council is the Chairman of the National Assembly. The Vice Chairmen of the National Election Council include: The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly is the Permanent Vice Chairman and Head of the Personnel Subcommittee; Deputy Prime Minister; Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Vice President.

Members of the National Election Council include: Head of the Central Organization Committee; Head of the Central Inspection Committee; Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee; Minister of National Defense; Minister of Public Security; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and Head of the Subcommittee on Legal Documents and Settlement of Complaints and Denunciations; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and Head of the Subcommittee on Information and Propaganda; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and Head of the Subcommittee on Ensuring Security, Order and Social Safety; Minister of Home Affairs; Head of the Delegation Work Committee; Secretary General of the National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Office and Head of the Office of the National Election Council; Chairman of the Ethnic Council; Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women's Union; First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

The resolution clearly states that the National Election Council is responsible for organizing the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly; directing and guiding the election of deputies to People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term in accordance with the law and coordinating with the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Government and relevant agencies and organizations to perform assigned tasks. The National Election Council has a working location at the National Assembly House, a seal, operating budget and supporting apparatus.

On the same day, the National Assembly voted to pass the Resolution on the number of members of the Standing Committee of the 15th National Assembly, with 422/422 (100%) of National Assembly deputies participating in the vote in favor. Accordingly, the number of members of the Standing Committee of the 15th National Assembly is 20 people, including: the Chairman of the National Assembly, 6 Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly, and 13 members of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly. This Resolution takes effect from the date of its approval by the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at the 9th Session of the 15th National Assembly on June 25, 2025.

During the working day, the National Assembly voted to pass the Law on Inspection (amended); the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Civil Procedure Code, the Law on Administrative Procedure, the Law on Juvenile Justice, the Law on Bankruptcy and the Law on Mediation and Dialogue at Court; the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Penal Code; the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Promulgation of Legal Normative Documents; the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Handling of Administrative Violations; the Resolution of the National Assembly amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Internal Regulations of the National Assembly session issued together with Resolution No. 71/2022/QH15 of the National Assembly; the Law on State Budget (amended) and the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Bidding, the Law on Investment under the Public-Private Partnership model, the Law on Customs, the Law on Export Tax and Import Tax, the Investment Law, the Law on Public Investment, and the Law on Management and Use of Public Assets.

The National Assembly also discussed in the hall the Draft Law on Judicial Assistance in Civil Matters; Funding for drug rehabilitation facilities and policies and regimes to support officials, workers and civil servants working in drug rehabilitation; supplementing the investment form for the North-South high-speed railway project; solutions to continue implementing planning work associated with the arrangement of administrative units while the Law on Planning (amended) has not been promulgated.
