Ngo Thanh Van's Vietnamese dialogue in the movie "The Old Guard 2" is causing a stir.

In part 2, Quynh is the central character, carrying a deep resentment towards humanity and her best friend Andy (played by Charlize Theron). She has been imprisoned in a steel box at the bottom of the sea for 500 years, unable to die or live fully – constantly suffocating and resurrecting in a cruel cycle. Quynh's greatest pain is not only the torture of her body but also the feeling of betrayal when Andy did not come to save her for centuries.

This character was originally based on Noriko – Andy’s ex-lover in the comic. However, Ngo Thanh Van proactively proposed changing the name to Quynh to honor Vietnamese identity. This is her remarkable effort in the journey to bring the image of Vietnamese people to the world through cinema.

One of the most praised scenes inThe Old Guard 2is the duel between Quynh and Andy. Both are veteran "female fighters", possessing fighting skills and attractive on-screen demeanor. The contrast in eyes, movements and inner torment creates a battle that is not only pleasing to the eye but also full of emotion.

In addition, Quynh also has a tense sword fight with warrior Nile (KiKi Layne) and infiltrates a nuclear facility - a series of action scenes that help this character become the brightest highlight of the entire film.

The actress was also praised for her eye-catching martial arts performance.

After the intense battle, Quynh suddenly exclaimed in Vietnamese:“Traitor. You will die alone and in darkness.”.” The short line but gives Vietnamese audiences “goosebumps.”

Not only did she play her role well, Ngo Thanh Van was also considered to have the most emotional depth in the entire film. With the open ending at the end of part 2, fans expect the character Quynh to be explored further if The Old Guard has a sequel. Not simply a "female fighter", she brings an immortal warrior who is both strong and vulnerable - a complex and attractive image.

After the success ofHeroic BloodgoodHai Phuong, Ngo Thanh Van is continuing to affirm her position as an Asian action star with international influence.
