Nghe An Province Traffic Safety Committee gives life jackets to flood victims in Luong Minh commune
On August 1, the Traffic Safety Committee of Nghe An province organized a ceremony to present 100 personal life jackets to people in Luong Minh commune, a locality that has just suffered heavy damage due to the impact of storm No. 3 (Wipha).
The working delegation led by Mr. Phan Huy Chuong - Deputy Head of the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee directly handed over the life jackets to the local authorities. According to the proposed plan, the total number of life jackets needed is 300. In the first phase of deployment, to promptly serve the rescue work, the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee has issued 100 jackets in advance to high-risk subjects such as boatmen, officers on duty and people who regularly travel to dangerous areas to participate in rescue work.
Luong Minh is a particularly disadvantaged commune in Nghe An province, located more than 210km from the provincial center. After the impact of storm No. 3, the entire commune suffered a historic flood that swept away many houses, caused landslides on roads, damaged or deformed two suspension bridges, and isolated 6 villages with a total of more than 3,500 people. Many households can now only travel and transport goods by boat, but there is a serious lack of equipment to ensure waterway safety.
Therefore, supporting life jackets at this time is really necessary and timely, contributing to ensuring the safety of people's lives during travel and daily activities.
