Song Lam Nghe An 'promotes' only young goalkeeper Bao Ngoc to the first team for V-League 2025/26
Preparing for the 2025/26 V-League season, Song Lam Nghe An Club has made personnel adjustments, notably when this team only "promoted" young goalkeeper Bao Ngoc to the first team.
The decision to promote goalkeeper Bao Ngoc was made after goalkeeper Van Viet left the team to play for The Cong Viettel.
According to the force registration plan,Lam River Nghe Anwill bring 28 players to participate in the new season, including 24 domestic players and 4 foreign players. Of these, 21 players who played in the 2024/25 season will continue to participate, along with the return of two familiar faces, central midfielder Xuan Binh and winger Le Van Quy. These are two players who have just completed a loan contract. Thus, in addition to the two players returning from other teams, Bao Ngoc is the only young face "promoted" from the back line to participate in the first team squad. Currently, Song Lam Nghe An's defense will have three goalkeepers: Cao Van Binh, Huu Hau and Bao Ngoc.
Bao Ngoc was born in 2007, from Giai Xuan commune, Nghe An, and is one of the most potential young goalkeepers of the Song Lam Nghe An football training center. His professional mark is clearly shown through domestic youth tournaments. In 2020, he and U13 Song Lam Nghe An won the National U13 Championship and won the title of Best Goalkeeper. In 2022, he continued to help U15 Song Lam Nghe An win the National U15 Championship, and at the same time repeated his personal achievement when he was honored as the best goalkeeper of the tournament. In two consecutive years 2023 and 2024, he contributed to U17 Song Lam Nghe An winning third place in the National U17 Championship. In 2025, Bao Ngoc and U19 Song Lam Nghe An won the runner-up position in the National U19 Championship, thereby affirming his solid position in the promising young players of Nghe An football.
On the national team level, this young goalkeeper has also participated in many important tournaments. He was the main goalkeeper of Vietnam U17 at the 2023 AFC U17 Championship Finals. In 2024, although he did not occupy the main goalkeeper position, Bao Ngoc was still on the list of the Vietnam U19 and U20 teams.
Promoting Bao Ngoc to the first team before the new season is not only to perfect his position in the goal, but also a step to affirm the long-term development orientation according to the philosophy of nurturing and using young players trained by the club itself, Song Lam Nghe An. With a good professional foundation, a solid competitive mentality, and extensive experience from youth tournaments, the goalkeeper born in 2007 is expected to make steady progress, contributing to consolidating the final blocking position in the Song Lam Nghe An squad.
