According to TASS, US President Donald Trump announced on August 1 that he had ordered the relocation of two nuclear submarines, due to statements by Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev to ensure the safety of US citizens.

“We just have to be careful,” President Trump told reporters on August 1 on the South Lawn of the White House before heading to his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, for the weekend.

"A threat was made, and we don't think it was appropriate, so I have to be very careful," Trump said.

"So I did it on the basis of ensuring the security of our people. The former Russian president threatened, and we will protect our people" - President Trump emphasized.

"You just read what Mr. Medvedev said. He was talking about nuclear. When someone talks about nuclear, we have to be prepared. And we are fully prepared," the US leader added.

According to the US President writing on Truth Social, he ordered the relocation of two US nuclear submarines to appropriate areas, allegedly due to statements by the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council. In President Trump's view, Mr. Medvedev made provocative statements on nuclear issues.

Previously, on July 28, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev wrote on X that President Trump threatened Russia and said that the US should not forget that any ultimatum becomes a step towards war.

Then, on July 31, Mr. Medvedev warned President Trump “not to forget the danger of ‘dead people’”, in response to the White House owner’s previous statement that “the Russian and Indian economies are dead”.

The New York Times commented that the implementation of President Donald Trump's order to send two nuclear submarines to appropriate areas could not be verified.

The publication notes that the movement of nuclear submarines is one of the Pentagon's most secret tactical exercises, so it will most likely be impossible to find out whether Mr. Trump actually ordered the submarine to be moved.
