Floods caused by storm No. 3 caused more than 1,390 billion VND in damage to Nghe An's transportation system.

Rain from storm No. 3 caused flash floods and serious landslides in many communes in western Nghe An, severely damaging the traffic system with total estimated damage of more than 1,390 billion VND.

According to a report by the Nghe An Province Department of Construction, as of August 1, 24 landslides were recorded on national and provincial highways, including 17 on national highways and 7 on provincial roads. In addition, 8 roadbeds were completely broken.

The local transport system was also severely affected. The total length of landslides reached more than 52 km, with the volume of soil and rock washed away being about 75,500 m³. The whole province recorded 258 landslides and traffic jams; 3 culverts were washed away or damaged; 16 traffic bridges were destroyed or severely damaged; 9 suspension bridges were completely washed away by the flood and 12 spillways were damaged.

Damage in the transport sector alone is estimated at VND1,390 billion, accounting for nearly 40% of the total damage caused by floods in the whole province. As of August 1, the total initial damage in all sectors in Nghe An has exceeded VND3,623 billion.

In the face of the above situation, in recent days, Nghe An Construction Industry and local authorities have been urgently mobilizing forces and means to overcome the consequences and restore traffic on the roads. Traffic diversion and danger warning measures have also been deployed at key points to ensure people's safety./.
