The most wanted suspect has been apprehended.
On the afternoon of August 8th, the Criminal Police Department of An Giang Provincial Police announced that they had arrested and extradited Phan Thien Phuoc (born in 2001), residing in Thanh Dong commune, An Giang province, from Vinh Long province to An Giang province for prosecution. Phuoc was a wanted fugitive by the Criminal Investigation Agency of Kien Giang province (formerly) for the crime of "murder".
According to the investigation results, there was a pre-existing conflict between the Rach Gia group led by Truong Em and the Rach Soi group, which included Phan Thien Phuoc and several others. On the afternoon of July 29, 2022, Truong Em sent a message challenging Phuoc to a fight. At this time, Phuoc and Truong Em gathered several other members of their group, preparing homemade knives, swords, spears, Molotov cocktails, etc., to resolve the conflict.
At approximately 1:30 AM on July 30, 2022, upon spotting Truong Em's group near the Nguyen Thien Thuat roundabout, Phuoc's group attacked from multiple directions, causing Truong Em's group to flee. At this time, Do Phu Huong (born in 2002), residing in Rach Gia ward, An Giang province, was unable to escape in time and was stabbed and slashed multiple times by members of Phuoc's group using homemade knives and spears.
Seeing Huong lying motionless, the group got into their car and left the scene. Huong was then taken by local residents to Kien Giang Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment. After a period of treatment, Huong was discharged with a 51% disability rating.
During the investigation of the case, Phuoc fled the area. On February 7, 2025, the Police Department issued a special wanted notice for Phan Thien Phuoc for the crime of "Murder".
After a period of hiding in various locations, on the afternoon of August 7, 2025, Phuoc was arrested by criminal investigators of the An Giang Provincial Police while hiding in Tan Hoa commune, Vinh Long province.
