South Korean President hosts solemn welcoming ceremony for General Secretary To Lam and his wife

On the morning of August 11, the welcoming ceremony for General Secretary To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on a state visit to the Republic of Korea (from August 10-13) at the invitation of President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung and his wife was solemnly held at the Yongsan Presidential Palace of the Republic of Korea.

At 9:30 a.m. (local time, or 7:30 a.m. Vietnam time), General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived at the Yongsan Presidential Palace of the Republic of Korea. Welcoming the General Secretary and his wife at the parking lot, President Lee Jae Myung and his wife shook hands to welcome General Secretary To Lam and his wife, and invited the General Secretary and his wife to step into the position of honor.

Showing respect for the visit of General Secretary To Lam and his wife along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, South Korea sent a military band to welcome and fired 21 cannon shots. At the same time, the military band played the Vietnamese and South Korean national anthems.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung invited General Secretary To Lam to review the Guard of Honor.

Next, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and General Secretary To Lam introduced the official delegation members of the two countries.

At the welcoming ceremony, Korean children sang the song "Children of the world celebrate happily" to welcome the General Secretary and his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, praising the friendship, affection and solidarity of children around the world.

Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1992, Vietnam and South Korea have continuously developed a close and mutually beneficial partnership in many fields, including politics, economics, culture and people-to-people exchange.

Vietnam and the Republic of Korea regularly maintain delegation exchanges and contacts at high and all levels, promoting the rotational implementation of cooperation mechanisms, especially in the fields of politics, defense and security. Economy, trade and investment continue to be important pillars in bilateral cooperation. The Republic of Korea is currently the largest investor in Vietnam and the third largest trade partner of Vietnam. Vietnam is a top priority partner to which the Republic of Korea provides development assistance.

Cultural, educational, labor, tourism and other cooperation fields have witnessed important achievements, constantly innovating both in quantity and quality. In the field of science, technology and innovation, one of the cooperation fields expected to be a new pillar in bilateral relations, the two countries have achieved many encouraging results.

Cooperation in the fields of labor and people-to-people exchange has been continuously developing, meeting the needs of both sides. There are currently about 350,000 Vietnamese people in Korea and more than 200,000 Koreans in Vietnam, including more than 100,000 multicultural families and about 100 localities of the two sides have friendly people-to-people exchange relations.

Along with that, the exchange and strategic coordination of the two countries at regional and international forums in solving issues of mutual regional and international concern are tightened and enhanced, contributing to peace, stability and common development in the region and the world.
