The European Union has supported Vietnam in implementing the project “Promoting sustainable pepper production and trade” since 2022, aiming to change farmers’ awareness and farming methods towards sustainable landscapes. To date, many pepper growing areas have improved product quality and developed more stably.

In Dak Nong, Mr. Pham Van Thach, Director of Dak Nong Organic Agriculture Cooperative, said that the local climate and soil conditions are favorable for pepper. Previously, the overuse of fertilizers and chemicals caused poor quality pepper gardens.

In the past 3 years, the cooperative has applied organic farming techniques, planting live poles, leaving natural grass and composting organic fertilizers, helping to create a cool microclimate, prolonging the life of the tree to over 20 years, overcoming the common problem of dead tips in concrete or wooden poles.

The landscape pepper growing model shows the combination of environmental protection, agricultural development and livelihood improvement. This method helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve soil quality and contribute to forest regeneration.

Pepper price today August 14 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) updated the prices of pepper of all types traded in the international market on August 13 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices increased slightly compared to yesterday at USD 7,175/ton (up 0.38%). In addition, Muntok white pepper prices increased slightly compared to yesterday at USD 10,029/ton (up 0.37%).

Brazilian ASTA black pepper price decreased sharply compared to yesterday at 5,850 USD/ton (down 2.56%).

Malaysia's ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,250/ton. Meanwhile, the country's ASTA white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $12,500/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 6,240 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 6,370 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $8,950/ton.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), in the first seven months of 2025, Vietnam exported 145,046 tons of pepper, earning 988 million USD. Although export volume decreased by 11.7% compared to the same period in 2024, the increase in selling price helped increase turnover by 29.3%. Of which, black pepper reached 124,271 tons, worth 820.3 million USD; white pepper reached 20,775 tons, worth 167.7 million USD.

On the import side, Vietnam purchased 31,472 tons of pepper with a total value of 195.4 million USD, a sharp increase compared to the same period in both volume (58.5%) and value (143.4%). This development shows that domestic demand for raw materials remains large despite a decrease in domestic output.

VPSA forecasts that Vietnam’s pepper output in 2025 will decrease by 7.8% compared to the previous year, marking the third consecutive year of decline. This trend occurs in the context of a shrinking global pepper supply, which may continue to put pressure on pepper prices in the coming time.
