Hanoi Police Department has updated the Hanoi road closure schedule for September 1st to serve the A80 grand ceremony. Road closures and traffic diversions will take place from 10 PM on September 1st to 1 PM on September 2nd.
According to the Hanoi City Police, the ceremony commemorating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam will take place from 6:30 AM on September 2nd.
To ensure traffic order and safety, prevent traffic congestion, facilitate the travel needs of the people, and support program activities, the Hanoi City Police Department announces the following traffic diversion and route organization for vehicles:
Periods of complete, temporary, or restricted vehicle traffic on certain roads:Starting from 10 PM on September 1st to 1 PM on September 2nd, the road closure schedule has been postponed by 4 hours compared to the previous plan.
These routes are completely closed to all vehicles:
Hoang Hoa Tham, Thuy Khue (from Hung Vuong to Van Cao), Mai Xuan Thuong, Quan Thanh, Phan Dinh Phung, Hung Vuong, Thanh Nien, Hoang Van Thu, Doc Lap, Dien Bien Phu, Ba Huyen Thanh Quan, Chua Mot Cot, Le Hong Phong, Ong Ich Khiem, Ngoc Ha, Bac Son, Ton That Dam, Nguyen Canh Chan, Hoang Dieu, Nguyen Tri Phuong, Chu Van An, Ton Duc Thang, Cat Linh, Trinh Hoai Duc, Hang Chao, Tran Phu, Son Tay, Kim Ma, Lieu Giai, Van Cao, Nghi Tam, Yen Phu, Cua Bac, Doi Can, Doc La-Pho, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Le Duan, Tran Nhan Tong (from Le Duan to Quang Trung), Trang Thi, Hang Khay, Trang Tien, Co Tan, Phan Chu Trinh (from Hai Ba Trung to Trang Tien); Le Thanh Tong, Tong Dan (from Ly Dao Thanh to Trang Tien), Tran Quang Khai, Tran Khanh Du, Quang Trung (from Ly Thuong Kiet to Trang Thi), Ly Thai To, Nguyen Huu Huan, Ngo Quyen (from State Bank Square to Trang Tien), Giang Vo, Lang Ha, Lang (from Lang Ha to Tran Duy Hung).
The following routes are temporarily closed according to vehicle type:
On the inner lanes of Ring Road 1 (except for routes with strict closures): temporary ban on all types of vehicles (except vehicles with security badges, vehicles serving the anniversary, priority vehicles, vehicles performing official duties, buses, garbage trucks, and emergency response vehicles).
On routes within the area from Ring Road 1 to Ring Road 2 (except for routes with strict traffic restrictions): a temporary ban is imposed on trucks with a total design weight of 1.5 tons or more, and passenger vehicles with 16 seats or more (except for vehicles with security badges, vehicles serving commemorative events, priority vehicles, vehicles performing official duties, buses, garbage trucks, and vehicles for resolving and rectifying incidents).
The following routes are recommended for traffic restrictions:
On routes within the area from Ring Road 2 to Ring Road 3: Traffic is restricted for passenger transport vehicles with fewer than 16 seats, private cars, and motorcycles.

For some routes from Ring Road 3 towards the suburbs (including: National Highway 32, Cau Dien, Ho Tung Mau, Le Duc Tho, Le Quang Dao, Thang Long Boulevard, Lang Van Hoa Road, National Highway 21A, Ho Chi Minh Road, National Highway 6, Quang Trung, Tran Phu, Nguyen Trai, Provincial Road 419, Provincial Road 429, Vo Nguyen Giap, National Highway 18): Traffic is restricted for vehicles (except buses, garbage trucks, emergency response vehicles, vehicles with security badges, and vehicles serving the commemoration ceremony).
Do not stop or park your vehicle on roads where traffic is prohibited or temporarily closed.
During periods of road closures and vehicle restrictions, how do vehicles move around?
During the celebration period, road closures and vehicle restrictions will be implemented in several key areas. To ensure smooth traffic flow, vehicles must adhere to the following guidelines:
Vehicles subject to the temporary traffic ban from National Highway 5, Hanoi - Bac Giang Expressway, and Hanoi - Hai Phong Expressway towards Cau Gie - Ninh Binh Expressway will be redirected to travel via Thanh Tri Bridge, then continue onto the elevated Ring Road III, through the Do Muoi intersection to enter Cau Gie - Ninh Binh Expressway.
For vehicles traveling from eastern provinces such as Hai Phong, Hung Yen, and Bac Ninh to northern, western, or northwestern provinces such as Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, and Tuyen Quang, one of the following two routes can be chosen: either go via Phu Dong Bridge, across Thanh Tri Bridge, onto the elevated Ring Road III, across Thang Long Bridge, and onto Vo Van Kiet Street; or turn from National Highway 5 onto Nguyen Duc Thuan Street, via the Thanh Tri Bridge access road, across Phu Dong Bridge to access the Hanoi - Bac Giang Expressway, and then continue onto the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen Expressway to reach the northern mountainous provinces.
Vehicles from northern provinces such as Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, and Phu Tho wishing to travel to southern provinces such as Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa will follow this route: National Highway 2, onto Vo Van Kiet Street, across Thang Long Bridge, onto the elevated Ring Road III, through the Do Muoi intersection to enter the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh Expressway.
For trucks with a total weight of 10 tons or more, when traveling on the elevated section of Ring Road III, turning off at intersections on roads such as Pham Van Dong, Pham Hung, Khuat Duy Tien, and Nguyen Xien will be restricted. Drivers must strictly comply with the instructions and guidance of the authorities.
Hanoi police recommend that people from other provinces and cities attending the event in the capital use public transportation, especially the elevated train. Line 2A Cat Linh - Ha Dong (from Yen Nghia station to Cat Linh station) and Line 3 Nho Son - Hanoi station (from Nho Son station to Cau Giay station) are convenient options. In addition, people can walk on several streets in the wards of Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Cua Nam, Hai Ba Trung, Giang Vo, Ngoc Ha, and the area around Ba Dinh Square.
Authorities requested that people follow instructions, only standing on the sidewalks, and not pushing or spilling onto the road, which would obstruct the parade. At the end of the event, everyone should leave in an orderly manner and follow the instructions of the authorities.
