Domestic coffee prices have fallen sharply by 1300 to 1500 VND/kg after a prolonged period of continuous increases. This is perfectly normal because prices cannot rise forever.

According to expert Nguyen Quang Binh, domestic coffee prices have increased very rapidly, from around 95 million VND per ton at the end of July to over 120 million VND in mid-August. Coffee growers are therefore very excited and expect a highly profitable harvest.

In the short term, the market is likely to experience technical corrections. The rapid price increase could lead many investors to take profits in early September. Furthermore, if the weather in Brazil improves or the harvest progresses, upward price pressure may ease.

The coffee market is currently very dynamic and volatile. Farmers and domestic export businesses need to take advantage of high prices but at the same time exercise extreme caution and develop appropriate sales strategies to minimize risks when the market experiences significant fluctuations.

World coffee prices today

On the London exchange, online robusta coffee futures contracts for September 2025 delivery closed at $5005 per ton, down 0.06% ($3 per ton) from yesterday. The November 2025 contract rose 1.25% ($60 per ton) to $4868 per ton.

Meanwhile, on the New York Stock Exchange, the price of Arabica coffee for September 2025 delivery rose 1.41% (5.45 US cents/pound) compared to yesterday, to 393.2 US cents/pound. The December 2025 contract increased 2.58% (9.75 US cents/pound), to 387.25 US cents/pound.

At the end of August 2025, world coffee prices experienced significant fluctuations on both the New York exchange for Arabica and the London exchange for Robusta. After soaring in the week of August 18-24, the September Arabica contract on the ICE US exchange reached nearly 390 cents/pound, its highest level in several months, while Robusta also maintained an impressive upward trend.

However, profit-taking pressure emerged in the final trading sessions of the month, causing a slight price correction. Even so, compared to the same period last year, prices remain high. In August alone, coffee prices increased by nearly 30% and are more than 50% higher than the same period in 2024, indicating that the market remains very active.

Entering the fourth quarter of 2025, many forecasts indicate that the upward price trend will continue. Reports from reputable organizations suggest that supply, especially Robusta coffee, still shows no significant signs of improvement. Although global production is expected to increase slightly, the severe shortage in the Arabica segment is predicted to persist.

This means that upward price pressure will remain high for at least another season. The overall situation indicates that world coffee prices are still under tension and require close monitoring of supply and trade policy developments.
