In recent months, domestic coffee prices have no longer mirrored world prices, but have been primarily influenced by domestic supply and demand. With only about a month left until Vietnam enters its new harvest season, local authorities have advised farmers to harvest coffee when the berries are ripe to ensure both yield and product quality. This is expected to help maintain Vietnam's competitive advantage in the export market.
In the short term, coffee prices could fluctuate sharply after the report from Conab is released in September. This report is expected to clarify the risk of production shortfalls due to weather and climate factors, thereby directly affecting Brazil's 2026-2027 crop year.
Furthermore, ahead of the European Union's (EU) deforestation ban officially taking effect at the end of this year, many European corporations and importers are expected to increase their purchases to secure supply. Looking at the long term, the upward trend in coffee prices is likely to continue even as Vietnam enters its new harvest season next month.

Coffee prices have resumed their upward trend. According to Rabobank's assessment, although the rate of increase has slowed compared to the previous period, the possibility of further price increases in the short term remains. This is mainly due to speculative activity in the market, amidst low inventory levels and limited liquidity.
According to Reuters, arabica coffee futures prices rose close to their 3.5-month high reached in the previous session. This development was supported by disruptions to global trade following the US imposition of a 50% tariff on coffee imports from Brazil.
Overall this past week, Arabica coffee prices have risen 2%, reaching a total increase of 34% in the last four weeks. Speculative buying has increased sharply, while inventories on the exchange have decreased, forcing US roasters to urgently seek alternative sources of supply.
However, some market experts surveyed by Reuters predict that coffee prices may correct downwards later this year. This possibility depends on whether coffee production in Brazil and Vietnam improves, despite tariff factors causing significant volatility in global coffee trade.
