Water discharge operation of Nam Giai hydroelectric reservoir (Que Phong commune) at 4:00 a.m. on August 31
The Nghe An Provincial Civil Defense Command has just issued a notice on the operation of water discharge from the Nam Giai Hydropower Reservoir (Que Phong Commune) to ensure safety according to the single-reservoir and inter-reservoir procedures on the Ca River basin.
Specifically, at 9:08 p.m. on August 30, 2025, the Provincial Civil Defense Command received Notice No. 06/TB-TĐNG from Viet Lao Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company on the Nam Giai Lake regulation plan.
To ensure the safe operation of water discharge from Nam Giai hydropower reservoir in accordance with the approved Single Reservoir Procedure and Inter-reservoir Procedure on the Ca River Basin, Viet Lao Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company announces the expected operation and regulation plan for Nam Giai hydropower reservoir as follows:
Estimated time to start water discharge is from4:00 AM August 31, 2025, with total flow from 13.55 m³/s to 500 m³/s.
This flow includes flow through the piano spillway, sand gates and through the generator sets and may vary depending on the actual water volume entering the lake.

The discharge end time will be determined when the lake water level is no higher than the normal rising water level at 436m and is unlikely to rise again.
The Provincial Civil Defense Command requested the People's Committee of Que Phong commune, relevant departments, branches and sectors to promptly notify local authorities, units, contractors working along the river, on the river, owners of water transport vehicles and people downstream of Nam Giai hydropower plant to proactively deploy measures to ensure safety of life and property.
