In order to ensure that the 2025-2026 pressing season takes place smoothly, effectively and with high productivity and quality, right from the beginning of the third quarter of 2025, Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company has proactively implemented many comprehensive solutions, from the stage of preparing equipment, controlling pests and diseases, and signing contracts to purchase raw materials for farmers.

Proactive from the stage of safe factory equipment before the pressing season

This year, Song Con Sugar Factory has had a difficult year due to complicated weather conditions. There have been many storms and floods, and many sugarcane areas have been damaged. The company has been taking care of protecting the raw material areas while focusing on maintaining the system to prepare for the new pressing season.

Immediately after the end of the 2024-2025 pressing season, the entire machinery system at the company's sugar factory has been included in the annual maintenance plan and is currently receiving high attention.

Key production lines and systems such as pressing, refining, boilers, wastewater treatment systems, etc. are disassembled, thoroughly inspected, damaged components replaced and important parts upgraded.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Quy - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company said: As of mid-August, more than 75% of the items have been completed, ensuring progress, ready for the new pressing season. Many new machinery systems have been invested to improve progress and sugar quality.

In parallel, special attention is paid to the preparation of raw materials. Due to heavy rain and high humidity, white cotton mealybugs appear in large numbers, especially after storm No. 3, threatening sugarcane productivity. In response, the company has coordinated with the government, plant protection stations and farmers to implement many synchronous solutions: Providing safe pesticides, organizing training for farmers, using drones to spray pesticides, and at the same time, encouraging the application of biological measures such as raising natural enemies (ladybugs, parasitic wasps) and rotating crops to treat stubble to limit pests in the long term.

After storm No. 5, heavy rains caused flooding in many sugarcane growing areas - the stage that determines productivity. If there is prolonged rain and stormy winds, sugarcane can fall in large numbers. Faced with this difficulty, the company has taken many measures to prevent falling and drain water such as removing dry leaves, tying sugarcane into clumps, clearing banks, clearing ditches and sending more than 20 agricultural officers to directly support farmers. Customer care software is also utilized to provide timely instructions on how to handle sugarcane fields before and after the storm.

After the flood, the company instructed farmers to clear drainage ditches, rebuild fallen sugarcane, prune severely broken plants, add potassium and biofertilizer, and spray root stimulants to increase resistance. In particular, farmers were advised to prevent root rot and leaf drying in prolonged wet conditions. These solutions contributed to rapid growth recovery, protecting the yield and quality of raw sugarcane.

Signing a contract, preparing for harvest

The company currently manages a raw material area of over 6,000 hectares in 20 communes, stretching from Minh Hop to Anh Son to Thien Nhan, with more than 7,000 households participating in sugarcane cultivation, with an expected output of about 380,000 tons. To ensure stable output, from now until September 30, the company will complete signing a consumption contract with each household. The contract clearly stipulates quantity, quality, harvest time, price, technical support and investment, creating confidence for farmers to feel secure in sustainable production.

Harvesting and transportation are also carefully prepared. Based on early and late ripening sugarcane varieties and processing capacity, the company builds a detailed harvest plan to help farmers be proactive. To transport large output, this year, the company mobilizes 145 to 160 box trucks, so the company has early searched for vehicles in the raw material area to support farmers.

In addition, many policies to encourage farmers have been issued: Support for 30-50 tons/ha of sugarcane sludge treated with microorganisms; reward of 100,000 VND/ton for 20% of imported sugarcane output with high quality and low impurities; support for repairing roads after storms, ensuring "clear roads - running sugarcane" for convenient transportation.

Towards effective and sustainable pressing

With careful and synchronous preparation, Song Con Sugarcane Joint Stock Company expects the 2025-2026 pressing season to achieve positive results in terms of productivity, quality and economic efficiency. This is not just a normal pressing season, but also a proactive and creative effort of the enterprise in adapting to climate change, preventing pests and accompanying farmers in the face of unpredictable fluctuations of natural disasters.

Over the years, despite difficulties, the relationship between the factory and farmers has become increasingly close in the context of many agricultural products and fruit trees having reduced prices. Sugarcane growers are assured of output, receive technical support and training to improve productivity, and will have more motivation to invest, care for, and move towards sustainable sugarcane cultivation.

Moreover, the company also focuses on social responsibility, not only stopping at immediate economic benefits but also paying attention to environmental protection, restoring fields after natural disasters, improving traffic infrastructure serving raw material areas. That affirms that the enterprise does not stand aside from farmers' difficulties but truly becomes a "companion" in the production process.
