Song Con Sugar Corporation is preparing for the 2025-2026 crushing season.
To ensure the 2025-2026 sugar cane crushing season runs smoothly, efficiently, and achieves high productivity and quality, from the beginning of the third quarter of 2025, Song Con Sugar Cane Joint Stock Company has proactively implemented many comprehensive solutions, from preparing equipment and controlling pests and diseases to signing raw material purchase contracts with farmers.
Proactive measures are taken, starting with ensuring factory safety equipment before the crushing season.
This year, the Song Con Sugar Factory has faced a difficult period due to unpredictable weather patterns. Frequent storms and heavy rains have caused extensive flooding and damage to sugarcane fields. The company is simultaneously focusing on protecting its raw material areas and maintaining its systems in preparation for the new crushing season.
Immediately after the end of the 2024-2025 crushing season, the entire machinery system at the company's sugar factory was included in the annual maintenance plan and is currently receiving high attention.
Key production lines and systems such as pressing, refining, boilers, and wastewater treatment plants were dismantled, thoroughly inspected, damaged components replaced, and critical parts upgraded.
Mr. Nguyen Ba Quy, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Song Con Sugar Company, said: As of mid-August, more than 75% of the project has been completed, ensuring progress and readiness for the new crushing season. Many new machinery systems have been invested in to improve the speed and quality of sugar production.
Simultaneously, special attention was paid to the preparation of raw materials. Due to heavy rain and high humidity, white mealybugs appeared in large numbers, especially after typhoon No. 3, threatening sugarcane yields. To respond, the company coordinated with the government, the plant protection station, and farmers to implement many comprehensive solutions: supplying safe pesticides, organizing training for farmers, using drones for spraying, and encouraging the application of biological control measures such as raising and releasing natural predators (ladybugs, parasitic wasps) and crop rotation to treat stubble in order to limit pests in the long term.
Following Typhoon No. 5, heavy rains caused flooding in many sugarcane growing areas, particularly during the stem elongation stage – a crucial period for yield. If the rain continues and strong winds persist, the sugarcane could be flattened en masse. Facing this challenge, the company implemented various measures to prevent lodging and drain water, such as removing dry leaves, tying sugarcane into clumps, clearing embankments, unblocking ditches, and deploying over 20 agricultural staff to directly assist farmers. The customer care software was also utilized to provide timely guidance on how to manage sugarcane fields before and after the storm.
After the floods, the company instructed farmers to clear drainage ditches, straighten fallen sugarcane, prune severely broken plants, supplement potassium and bio-fertilizers, and spray root-stimulating agents to increase resistance. In particular, farmers were advised to prevent root rot and leaf blight in prolonged wet conditions. These solutions contributed to the rapid restoration of growth, protecting the yield and quality of sugarcane.

Currently, the company manages a raw material area of over 6,000 hectares across 20 communes, stretching from Minh Hop commune to Anh Son commune to Thien Nhan commune, with more than 7,000 households participating in sugarcane cultivation, with an expected output of approximately 380,000 tons. To ensure stable output, from now until September 30th, the company will finalize the signing of purchase contracts with each household. The contracts clearly specify the quantity, quality, harvesting time, price, technical support, and investment, creating confidence for farmers to engage in sustainable production.
Harvesting and transportation were also meticulously prepared. Based on early-ripening and late-ripening sugarcane varieties and processing capacity, the company developed a detailed harvesting plan, enabling farmers to be proactive. To transport the large volume of produce, this year the company mobilized 145 to 160 trucks, so it promptly sought transportation within the raw material area to support the farmers.
In addition, many policies to encourage farmers have been issued: Support for sugarcane sludge treated with microorganisms at a rate of 30-50 tons/ha; a reward of 100,000 VND/ton for 20% of imported sugarcane that is of high quality and has few impurities; support for repairing roads after storms, ensuring "clear roads - sugarcane can pass" for convenient transportation.

With thorough and coordinated preparation, Song Con Sugar Corporation expects the 2025-2026 crushing season to achieve positive results in terms of productivity, quality, and economic efficiency. This is not just an ordinary crushing season, but also a proactive and innovative effort by the enterprise to adapt to climate change, control pests and diseases, and stand alongside farmers in the face of unpredictable natural disasters.
